🐾The 3 D’s of Dog Training 🐾

Zuko is demonstrating one of the most important concepts in dog training: the 3 D’s.

✅ Duration – How long your dog can hold a behaviour. In this case, staying in a down while I grab a coffee.

✅ Distance – How far away you can move from your dog while they maintain the behaviour.

✅ Distraction – Everything happening around them that could tempt them to break position, from people walking by to traffic, smells, and other dogs.

The key is to build these gradually. Increase one D at a time so your dog can succeed and stay confident. Zuko is learning that even when I'm out of sight, the job stays the same: relax and hold the down.

Nice little group session over Chasewater the other day.

We've got:

Roo - Golden Retriever I work alongside a Charity called Darwin Dogs and I am training Roo to be a service dog for his Autistic Owner.

Luna - Rehomed Staffy. Luna has just turned 1 and we are really progressing now. She loves a Ball.

Rolo - GSD. Reactive. Heavy Puller. We are building his obedience and socilising him to dogs and situatations.

Meeka - GSD. Loud. Reactive. Nervous. She has now completed her 12 sessions. This was her last 😪 She is fixed lets put it that way ❤️

Louis - GSD Cross. Fear Aggressive.Dog aggressive. Reactive. Heavy Puller. Sometimes Human Aggressive. We have done around 10 sessions with Louis. He is doing so well. I now go in his house. He greets meet with confidence. He can do his local walk without trying to kill everyone and everything his progress has been wonderful to see.

❤️❤️Maggie ❤️❤️

Maggie is a rescue from Bosnia (or somewhere around there) She has been with her new family for around 10weeks now.

We are now seeing progress with her Obedience amd her owners are learning the techniques to manage their dog. She is a mix of all sorts. Boxer. Bully. Rottie and more.

She absolutley thrives from the training she is getting and her owners are really committed.

We still have 9 sessions to complete her Behavioural Package.

Our aim...

Stop Reactivity
House Manners
Reduce Barking
Achieve off lead freedom.

We are well on our way. Looking forward to seeing the finsihed article ❤️🐾❤️

Very extremely nervous to sipping on a pupachino in public.

At one point you couldnt even look at Daisy without her wanting to hide or get away.
