🌟We are looking for a part time groom to join the Higher Spen Team🌟

Days: Every Saturday.
Hours: 8.30am to 4.30pm.
Rate of pay is relevant to your age and experience.

The ideal candidate will be:
🔹Confident and experienced at handling horses.
🔹 Hands on, hardworking and passionate about horses.
🔹Friendly and polite.
🔹Punctual and reliable.
🔹Work well within a team.
🔹Over the age of 15.

Duties include:
🔹All aspects of yard work carried out to a very high standard.
🔹Feeding.
🔹Mucking out.
🔹Grooming.
🔹Turning out/bringing in.
🔹Filling nets.
🔹Assisting with hydrotherapy.

LAMINITIS ALERT - we are currently receiving a high number of referrals for laminitis

Dizzy came to us two weeks ago following a laminitis diagnosis. When she arrived, she had the classic symptom of being quite lame in front. After a few days swimming, she was walking much more comfortably and presented fully sound at the end of her 2 week stay. She also lost 23kg during her stay.

Swimming is widely accepted to be highly beneficial for horses with EMS and laminitis, by helping to reduce inflammation and increase insulin sensitivity.

Charlie has been on an incredible weight loss journey since last July when he was diagnosed with laminitis. Since then he has lost approximately 120kg (20 stone) with the help of careful dietary management, a course of thyroxine supplementation medication and most recently 3 weeks of swimming during which he has lost 66kg! Well done Charlie and his owners. He looks amazing!👏☺️

19 year old Axel has worked incredibly hard over the last fortnight, significantly improving his fitness and losing 43 kg in the process! Well done Axel!⭐️☺️
