Bromyard Vets was opened by Martin & Kerry Flamank in February 2006 and is a purpose built, dedicated small animal facility. Keeping our focus entirely on companion animals enables us to keep right up to date with the latest advances in medical and surgical techniques, in turn providing your pet with a high standard of care. We are proud to say that shortly after opening we became an approved memb

er of the RCVS Practice Standards Scheme - an initiative that quality assures our facilities & services provided to you and your pets.

🌡️ A warm weather reminder for our clients 🌡️

Temperatures are expected to reach around 32°C today, and it is also already hot inside the surgery. We have aircon for patients in hospital care. While we are open as usual, we would ask owners to carefully consider whether routine appointments are essential today for pets who may struggle in the heat.

This is especially important for:
🐾 Elderly pets
🐾 Very young pets
🐾 Brachycephalic (flat-faced) breeds
🐾 Cardiac patients
🐾 Pets with long or thick coats

Travelling and waiting in warm conditions can cause additional stress and increase the risk of overheating. If your pet is booked in for a routine appointment and you are concerned about them coping in the heat, please contact us to discuss whether rearranging may be appropriate.

Patient welfare is always our priority — please keep pets cool, avoid walking during the hottest parts of the day, and ensure plenty of fresh water is available.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation 💙

⚠️ The dangers of slime! ⚠️

Poor Benti accidently sat in some children's play slime on the weekend 🙈 What was initially quite funny turned into quite severe burns on the skin.

We thought it was important to share so that if you find yourselves in a similar situation, please remove immediately.

The slime solidified quite quickly on Benti and had to be removed carefully with clippers. He was a very brave boy! 🥰

What better way to celebrate Veterinary Awareness Month than by recognising Veterinary Nurse Francesca’s 10 years here at Bromyard Vets! 💚

A decade ago, this little legend started her journey as a Veterinary Nurse with us. Today, we celebrated Chesky’s amazing milestone with cake and tea. 🎂☕

We asked Chesky what her most memorable moments have been over the last 10 years. She told us she loves how the team feels like a family, always supporting one another.

One memory that has stayed with her from early in her training was nursing a puppy through parvovirus — a puppy who survived and still visits us now, a decade later. Moments like that show just how special the bond can be between our patients, their owners, and the team caring for them.

Chesky also shared how important it is to get to know each patient and their owner, building trust and a real connection along the way. The patients love her, and she loves them just as much.

She said she wouldn’t change the last 10 years — except perhaps Covid!

Here’s to 10 wonderful years, and many more to come! 🐾
