With temperatures rising this week, this is just a timely reminder to be cautious with your dogs.
Please remember to avoid walking out in the heat, and don't leave your dog in the car.
Heatstroke can be dangerous, and your dog is more at risk if they are a flat-faced breed, are overweight, have underlying heart or respiratory conditions, if they are elderly, or if they are a particularly energetic dog who doesn't know when to stop! IF IN DOUBT, DON'T TAKE THEM OUT! A dog never died from missing a walk...
It is worth familiarising yourself with the signs of heatstroke (https://www.rvc.ac.uk/small-animal-vet/teaching-and-research/fact-files/heatstroke-in-dogs-and-cats) so that you can act quickly if needed, and if you're concerned, make sure you get in touch with your vet.
