Aster Broadstairs are doing a fundraising roast dinner for the Sanctuary on Fathers day (21st June) to raise much needed funds for chicken mite treatment, chicken worming, Mano 🐱 meds and vet care, and any other general costs towards the animals.

Jake came to us from a violent home via Wisteria Cat Rescue where he was abused. He had sever skin issues (likely due to the horrendous conditions he lived in and fleas) and was withdrawn.

This was over 2 years ago now and his skin is now fine, he loves a cuddlen to play, and enjoys life where he can come and go as he pleases in the safety of the sanctuary.

🐱 Mano 🐱

Poor Mano has been having a rough time lately. Having been on steriods to control his mouth ulcers for about 5 years now, his immune system isn't doing so well. Each time he has a steriod injection his immune system drops and he gets a calici virus flair up!

So after talking to our amazing vets at Warren House Vets, we are trying 6 weeks of anti-inflammitory antibiotics (which may be ongoing for life if they work) and then oral steriods (prednisolone) when he next gets a flair up (rather then a steriod injection). This will be a more expensive way to treat him .. but the main thing is we can find a way he can still have a good quality of life ❤️

I really hope this works for him 🙏 I am realistic that after years of steriods his life expectancy may not be great .. but I will do all I can to help this special little dude.

A HUGE thank you to Bodhicharya UK for a huge donation of £400 towards the animals care at Green Tara Animal Sanctuary. This has helped with general costs (feeding, bedding) and Mano has been for his regular steriod injection at the vets. Still some funds left for future vet bills too. 🙏

Happy Saturday 🥰

We have some beautiful young boys looking for their own flock. Currently under 6 months old, handled a lot from young so very good with people.
Having a cockeral has many benefits:

- looking after thier ladies: they will alert if there is danger, do their best to protect, and they live to treat their ladies but letting them eat first and sometime even bringing them food.

- maintains harmony within the flock by establishing a "pecking order". With a boy present the ladies dont need to fight over who is top hen. Creates a peaceful flock

- crowing: some love it. Some hate it. I personally LOVE to wake up to all the boys singing their morning song. BUT .. please be mindful if you have neighbours .. sometimes they like to sing all day 😅

- character: ive always found my boys have such big character. Not a day when a cockerel doesnt do something to make me laugh.

If you are in the position to adopt a cockerel - so many are always in need of homes, please get in touch or share this page to help them get homes 🙏

Another night shift done and that is placement done for me for another week 🚑👌🤘

Percy 🐷 wasn't keen to get out of bed when I got home this morning!

Got another night shift tonight ... but not for the ambulance service, this time a sanctuary and personal "job".
