Now I’m no dog groomer, but as a licensed home boarder I must do all that I can to maintain a dog’s welfare, and this includes (especially with curly or long haired breeds) taking care of a their coat to prevent knots/matting.

I always like to return a dog back to their owner at the end of a holiday clean, fresh, and looking their absolute best (on the occasion in the photo Winnie had been invited to an afternoon tea at our friends’ house so had to be well turned out for some full on socialising).

Whoever you board your dog with it would be worth checking that they will groom your dog daily to keep them comfortable, and avoid a trip to the groomers as soon as you’re back off of your holiday.

We’ve always viewed our home boarding service as bespoke to each dog who stays with us.

This has never been more true than it was this last week when Winnie came to stay.

5am alarm calls for Winnie and me so that we could enjoy some cool early walks.

Pulling an all nighter on Wednesday to reassure Winnie as she sat on the bedroom window sill mesmerised by the lightening, but not so keen on the thunder.

And well deserved afternoon naps for us both to catch up on our sleep.

As a treat we’ve rounded her week off today with a trip to Croome, Winnie with her own flask of chilled water and a dried sprat snack.

Everybody loves dear Winnie (proven by her invite to afternoon tea at our friends’ house), but then looking at that little face, who wouldn’t. 💕

She may be ten years old now but in her head Tatty is still a ball (or in the absence of a ball, an empty flower pot) obsessed two year old.

She wasn’t very impressed that I put her on the grooming table every day, during her holiday with us, to comb her through, but after being rewarded with strawberries and dried sprats for being a good girl, she agreed that the daily grooming table visit was essential.
