Little Gizmo’s Rattery Welcome to Little Gizmo’s Rattery - in Blackpool.

After owning rats for a number of years I am now starting my journey into rat breeding and am part of the Broadwaters breeding co-operative, breeding for health, longevity and genetically diverse rats.

Play time 🥰

Up until recently the babies have had their own space to play in but they've now been introduced to a small section of the ratties freeroam area.
They've had lots of new smells to discover and have been loving the different toys to play with.
We've also been practising 'recall' which is going well so I'm very proud of them all 😍

They absolutely love it. I only need to stand near their cage with it and they suddenly all clamber out of bed and dive in 🥰

A few tips for keeping ratties cool in the warmer weather 🥵

As well as the tips on the diagram you can also freeze smeared licky treats on a plate and if it gets really warm you can use a fan with a frozen water bottle in front to help circulate cool air but please make sure that it is not directed towards the cage and isn't reachable by little grabby hands

Thought it may have taken a little time before the babies ventured on the wheel and wow, within 20 minutes Nala was already running on it 🥰

Honestly, if anyone asked me who would be the first baby to try it out, I would have said 'Nala'. She's the most adventurous and confident girl in the group 😍
