Making your dogs cool for the summer 😎

Heatwave approaching!! ☀️ We will finally be getting some heat and sunshine over the next few days.

As usual around this time of year I won’t be grooming in the higher temperatures of an afternoon, I will only be doing morning appointments before the heat kicks in. This is to keep your dogs comfortable and avoid overheating - which is my top priority.

With the heatwave this week, please be careful walking your dogs and having them outside. Only do so early in the morning when it is cooler, or keep them inside during the heat. In higher temperatures we will be experiencing this week they are at a higher risk of overheating/heatstroke and burnt paw pads.

This is especially if your dog is a brachycephalic (flat faced) breed or is on the heavier side. Brachycephalic breeds such as Frenchies and Pugs have shorter airways and restricted airflow making it harder for them to cool down. This makes them much more susceptible to heatstroke. Keep them inside, in shade and with plenty of water.

I won’t be grooming during times of the day where it is too hot to do so. Despite having air conditioning, my dryer will produce more heat and I’d much rather not risk your dog overheating for a groom. If I have had to reschedule, I will always book for the next availability I have.
