Whitney is a small 6 year old white and blue girl, who has recently taken the unwanted crown of being our longest resident, coming up to 500 days with us. She walks beautifully by your side, and loves a few cuddles along the way. Whitney can live with another greyhound or be an only dog, however she has been known to react to other dogs on occasion (although this has happened less and less the more socialised she has become). This is fear-based so Whitney needs someone confident, experienced and calm who will be able to give her the reassurance that she needs to feels safe and that you have her back. Whitney has had several weekly trips out and sleepovers with our volunteer Keith and has behaved impeccably, with no reactive incidents on meeting numerous dogs, and she absolutely loves meeting people and getting a fuss. She has been clean in the house and sleeps well, and as you can see she’s partial to watching The Dog House! She just needs someone to give her a chance and work with her patiently and she will repay you tenfold with all the love in her heart (which is a lot!). If you think you have space in your heart for little Whitney please give us a call or message us and come and meet her. 💖🐾

Another sleepover for little Riz, growing in confidence every day!
If you think you have space for Riz (or any of our other hounds) in your home and heart, please get in touch. 💖🐾

“So, visit number 4,
you can just see on Riz's face how happy she is to be experiencing what it's like to have a home, she settles well, sleeps through the night and clean in the house. We had a trip to the pub and she is much more settled and less reactive to the "scary things in life" it’s been lovely to see her become more confident girl.” - Charlotte Stevens

After 545 days patiently waiting, and seeing so many of her kennel mates get chosen instead of her, our Perfect Patsy finally got the home of her dreams. On Tuesday she had a final outing with our volunteer Keith who has spent so much time getting her ready. Be happy Patsy! 💖
“I had my final walk with Patsy yesterday as she went to her forever home this morning . It has been a joyful journey with her and to be honest I never thought that we would bond as much with each other like we have over these last 10 months. It brings a tear to my eyes writing this but I am so happy for Patsy she is going to a wonderful couple. We had a little talk with each other yesterday and I think she understands what is happening as she promised me she would be a good girl. I will really miss you Patsy but it's your turn to enjoy your forever home and once you are settled would love to see you again.” - Keith Sparks

Little Riz is coming along leaps and bounds - here’s the latest from Charlotte on her most recent stay. Please get in touch if you have space in your heart and home for Riz (or any of our other hounds patiently waiting for their forever homes, you can see them all here https://dunrunnin.org/home-hound/)
“So, stay number 3 for the lovely Riz, how this little girl is growing in confidence, not only will she go to my mum for a fuss, she even allows my son (13) to give her strokes. Originally I was crating Riz but I didn't this visit, I wanted her to know the house was a safe space, and she was very happy in any, or the many dog beds, she even sat with Megs. She was very excited at walk times and of course dinner time, it's so lovely to see the change in her from the first visit to now, well done little girl 🥰”

Just a few weeks to go before our great friend and supporter Kelly Connon runs the London Marathon and has kindly chosen Dunrunnin as one of the charities she is supporting. Hopefully Kelly will have a bit more stamina than a greyhound, but if you can spare a couple of pounds to sponsor Kelly and her effort, we and the greyhounds would really appreciate it. Go Kelly! 🏃🏼‍♀️🐾

Lucky kennel dog Whitney had a day out with our volunteer Keith today - here’s what he had to say:
“Lovely afternoon out with kennel dog Whitney at Whitstable. This is the 4th week out with her and she really enjoys her walks and she has been a pleasure to be with. Whitney is always calm around other breeds and have been told this by other dog walkers when out with her. She is not shy when approaching people for strokes and cuddles and she has started to do this on her walks from the kennels. At home Whitney is very confident and very well behaved and nothing seems to worry her. She is coming up to her 15th month in the kennels and just hope she doesn't spend to many more months before finding her forever home.”
If you think you have space in your heart and home for Whitney, or any of our others hounds, please get in touch 🤞💗

An update on our little nervous girl Riz who has just had another few days with Charlotte - here’s what she had to say:
“So just a recap of my time with Riz. She has had a day visit, a sleep over and now 4 days straight with me and my dogs and it's been a pleasure to have her. She has experienced so many different things, some good, some scary. Riz is going to need a patient owner that understands she needs time to adjust to "pet life". She has been clean indoors the whole time she has been with me, eats well and enjoys walks in the woods. She has slept in a crate all night long with no problem. She will make someone a fantastic pet once she learns that the world isn't a scary place.” (Riz is wearing the yellow collar in the photos)
If you think you have a space in your heart and home for Riz (or any of our other hounds), please get in touch 🥰

Our lovely staff member Charlotte took our little spook Riz out for a little adventure today, here’s what she had to say -
“So today I took our little Riz home with me for the day. As most of you know Riz is scared of a lot of things - strangers, cars, traffic etc., so I thought it would be good to let her spend some time in a home to see that the world doesn't have to be scary.
She met my dogs this morning and we went for a lovely walk around the local woods, Riz was in her element, nose down, tail up, just loving being out. When we got home she was unsure of what to do, she did pace around until she felt comfortable enough to lay down, by this time my dogs were fast asleep lol. Before returning her to the kennels we did a road walk around the village with my boy Gav, this was much scarier than the woods and although she was unsure about the people and cars she did relax slightly and continued with the walk until we got back. This lovely little girl just needs to explore the world to see it’s not that scary. Good job Riz on your first steps into the world.”
If you think you could give Riz or any of our other hounds a home please get in touch.
