The story started in July 2002 with a paycheck of $5.70…
I was 30 years old when I entered the show pen for the very first time in Rookie Level 1. I had only been riding reining for a year — before that, I was just trail riding.
Little did I know that 24 years later, I would reach $3,000,000.
A note to anyone with dreams: even when people tell you you’re not talented, that you’re just lucky, that you don’t have what it takes, that you’re too young or too old… prove them wrong.
I believed I could do it. And in the end, the only person who truly has to believe in it is you.
Yes, I was lucky.Lucky to have the best wife I could ever imagine.Lucky to have incredible kids.Lucky to have supportive horse owners and an amazing team behind me — people strong enough to build a house on.
I was only a small part of it.
The real champions are my horses.They gave me everything.They went above and beyond their limits for me.
The respect I have for these incredible animals is impossible to describe — you have to feel it to truly understand.
“Thank you” will never be enough.
