Derbyshire Cat Centre

Derbyshire Cat Centre Our vision is a world where every cat is treated with kindness and an understanding of its needs.

Derby Adoption Centre is the largest purpose built cat centre in this area and was opened in 1998, with 121 pens to house approximately 150 cats and kittens. Since then we have had the much needed addition of our cat cottage and more recently an annex with 15 extra pens. We can now potentially have in residence up to 240 cats and kittens at any one time, unfortunately there are usually just as many waiting to come into us to find new homes.

We’ve had more wish list goodies today! Thank you so much everyone 😻

MISSING CAT….Oakwood

“Our cat, Minnie, is an indoor cat and has a special diet. She has managed to get out an open window in the night and has been missing since 27 August, she is 9 years old and has never been out the house for more than an hour before. We are very worried for her health and safety.

Could you please look in your gardens, sheds etc. She may be hiding because she will be scared.

She lives on Lucerne Road, Oakwood

Please share, thank you”

‼️ UPDATE ‼️

Not the news we were hoping for, unfortunately the “suspected” Parvovirus case is in fact Parvovirus. In light of this, we are still closed to the public for visits and there is a still a hold on incoming cats.

For the time being, we will be providing a cat matching service for anyone interested in adopting from us which is hands free (something we did during Covid times), with a view to them being able to go home from 27th September, all being well.

All of the cats we have available are on our website and if you are interested in a specific cat(s) please enquire in the usual way.

If you already have a visit or adoption booked in we will be in touch shortly. We will also provide a further update closer to 27th September.

Thank you for your understanding and support during this difficult time — all at the Derbyshire Cat Centre 💜

SEPTEMBER GALA CANCELLED!

Due to another suspected case of parvovirus we have taken the difficult decision to cancel the gala on Sunday 7th September.

The staff are working tirelessly looking after the cats especially the affected ones and this has to be everyone’s focus at the moment.

Once again please neuter and vaccinate your cats!

This could be you! If you're brave enough 👀😉

If you're ready to take on our abseil, head over to our website now to sign up ➡️ https://www.cats.org.uk/peakdistrictabseil

On Sunday 28th September we're heading over to the stunning Millers Dale Bridge, Buxton, for a thrilling 75ft-foot-drop abseil. Past participants have described the views as gorgeous and they felt they could "take on the world" after finishing. Start off scared but come out with the heart of a lion 🦁💪

It's just £20 to sign up and the sponsorship target is £50. The money you raise will support cats and kittens in your local area, as you can choose exactly which branch or Centre will receive your sponsorship. That means that you are in control of your fundraising and you can directly help felines in your area! 💝
