Over the years, I’ve cared for many breeds,

including Basset Hounds and Dachshunds, and today I share my home with two wonderful rescue dogs:

Alongside my dogs, I’ve also cared for cats, guinea pigs, hamsters, rats, snakes, birds, and other small animals. So, whatever kind of companion you have, you can trust that they’ll receive the same love and care as my own pets. At Beau’s Best Friends, I believe pets are family. They bring joy, comfort, and unconditional love into our lives — and they deserve the very best in return. My goal is to provide a safe, loving, and enriching experience for every animal in my care. Having experience with rescue dogs, I understand that some can be nervous or reactive. That’s why I offer solo dog walks only, unless pets are from the same household. Every pet is unique, so I tailor my care packages to meet their individual needs. All new clients begin with a Meet & Greet session to ensure the perfect fit — right from the start.

Back from the Highlands — Ready for My Besties!

I'm finally back from the Highlands and the beautiful Isle of Skye and I'm all ready to dive straight back into waggy tails, muddy paws and all the cuddles that make Beau’s Best Friends what it is. 💛🐾

The mountains were magical, but nothing beats coming home to my Besties — happy faces, zoomies, and that tail‑wagging welcome that says you’re back!

Here’s to more adventures, more walks, and more moments that remind me why I love what I do.

🐾 Grass seeds: small, sharp and medically serious — what local dog owners need to know

We’re now in the part of the year when grass seeds cause the most medical issues. Because of their shape, they can pierce the skin, travel through tissue, and lead to infections, abscesses, ear problems and eye irritation if not caught early.

As a trained dog first aider, I monitor dogs closely on every walk and drop‑in for early clinical signs, including:

Persistent paw licking or chewing

Sudden limping or sensitivity when touched

Head shaking, ear rubbing or discomfort

Redness, swelling, heat or discharge

These symptoms can escalate quickly, so early detection makes a huge difference to comfort, recovery and vet involvement.

It's Mental Health Awareness Week and I wanted to share something a little more personal with you, because sometimes it's good to know you're not alone.

At 43 I changed careers completely. Not because I necessarily wanted to, but because my physical and mental health needed to. Something had to shift and it was terrifying. On the other hand I had had this dream for years about starting up my own business and quite simply walking dogs. Strangely enough it was dogs that helped me to find my way back to myself.

Fresh air.
Routine.
Quiet companionship.
Tiny moments of joy I'd forgotten how to notice.

Walking dogs gave me the space to breathe again. Slowly, gently I started to feel like myself again.

So this week, I'm sharing a few small things that supported my own mental wellbeing. Nothing big or dramatic. Just simple, human things (inspired by the dogs) that makes the days feel lighter.

If you're navigating change, burnout, or just trying to keep up with life - I see you.

As I approach the six‑month mark of running Beau’s Best Friends, I’ve been taking some time to reflect on how things are working — especially around holiday bookings 💛🐾

These first months have taught me so much about the time, planning and commitment that goes into caring for each dog and supporting each family. I’ve learned what works well, what needs tightening, and where I need clearer boundaries to keep things fair and sustainable as a solo business owner with a family.

With holiday bookings becoming busier, it became clear that the old system — especially around deposits, balance payments and last‑minute changes — wasn’t giving me the structure or protection I needed. So, as I move towards this six‑month milestone, I’ve made some important updates.

You’ll see all the changes in the carousel above, including:
• Deposit increase from 20% → 50%
• A new structured payment timeline
• Full balance becoming non‑refundable (with alternative dates offered)
• An emergency contact now required
• Clear daily timings (5pm–10am) with extra hours charged
• And a reminder that while I offer in‑home care, I can’t be there 24/7 — your dog will never be left for more than 4–5 hours at a time, with at least an hour’s return in between

These updates aren’t about being strict — they’re about making sure I can continue offering safe, reliable, loving care for your dogs while also protecting my own family time and the long‑term sustainability of my business.
