🌾 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗦𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻: 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗗𝗼𝗴 𝗢𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄! 🌾

From 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 and early autumn, grass seeds can cause serious problems for our dogs — and many owners don’t realise just how dangerous they can be.

👉 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗦𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗮 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺?
Grass seeds are small, sharp and shaped like tiny darts. Once they attach to your dog’s fur, they can easily pierce the skin and work their way deeper into the body, causing pain, swelling and serious infections.
They can:
⚠️ Burrow into paws and cause abscesses
⚠️ Get lodged in ears, leading to head shaking and ear infections
⚠️ Travel into eyes, causing irritation or damage
⚠️ Be inhaled, leading to coughing or nasal discharge

👉 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗙𝗼𝗿:
✔️ Limping or licking paws
✔️ Shaking head or ear discomfort
✔️ Swelling, redness or sudden pain
✔️ Sneezing or nasal discharge after walks

👉 𝗧𝗼𝗽 𝗧𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗗𝗼𝗴 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲:
🐾 Avoid walking in areas with long grass when possible
🐾 Check between toes, ears, armpits and around the eyes after every walk
🐾 Brush your dog regularly to remove seeds before they can cause harm
🐾 Contact your vet promptly if you notice any unusual symptoms

Grass seeds might be tiny, but they can cause big problems. Daily checks can make a huge difference! 🌱🐶

As temperatures rise, it’s essential to keep our dogs safe. Even on warm days, they can quickly overheat, leading to serious health risks. This guide from Vets Now shows when it’s safe to walk your dog and when it’s best to stay cool indoors.

🐾 Walk early in the morning or later in the evening
🐾 Always provide plenty of fresh water
🐾 Avoid walking when temperatures are too high
