Just like us, our furry friends can suffer from heatstroke, burnt paws, and dehydration during hot days — especially at the beach or on long walks.

🐶 Here’s how to keep them cool and safe:
✅ Walk your dog early in the morning or late evening
✅ Always bring fresh water & a portable bowl
✅ Check the pavement with your hand — if it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for paws
✅ Never leave pets in a parked car
✅ Provide shade and a cool place to rest

If you notice excessive panting, weakness, drooling or confusion, it’s time to call us immediately.

It's natural to want to help, but sometimes the best help is patience.
Here’s what to do:
🔹 Leave the kittens where you found them. Their mother is likely nearby, caring for them.
🔹 The mother might be searching for a safer place to move them or gathering food.
🔹 Observe from a distance. Your presence can scare her away, and if she doesn’t feel safe, she may not return.
🔹 Worry only if several hours pass and there’s no sign of the mother.
🔹 Avoid touching the kittens with bare hands. Human scent can confuse or repel the mother, preventing her from coming back.

🐱 Nature knows best—let's give her the space to do her job. If in doubt, contact us for guidance.

Ever notice your dog tilting their head when you talk to them? 🐾 It’s not just adorable — it’s actually their way of trying to understand you better.

Dogs tilt their heads to pick up on familiar words, tones, and sounds they’ve learned to associate with things like treats, walks, or praise.

Basically, they’re doing their best to be great listeners!

Did you know?
Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC) is one of the most common types of skin cancer in both cats and dogs, and early detection is key to successful treatment.

☀️ Prolonged sun exposure is a major risk factor — especially in light-skinned pets or those with sparse fur on areas like the nose, ears, or belly.

🐱 In Cats:
SCC often appears on the nose, ears, or eyelids as crusty, non-healing sores or ulcers. It's especially common in white or light-coloured cats who love sunbathing.

🐶 In Dogs:
It can develop on the skin, mouth (especially gums or tongue), or paws, sometimes presenting as a lump, swelling, or persistent wound.

🔍 Watch for signs like:
• Sores that don’t heal
• Bleeding or scabbing lesions
• Oral discomfort or drooling
• Swelling or lumps on the skin or in the mouth

💡 At VETNC Vets, our experienced team offers diagnostic exams, biopsies, and tailored treatment options — from surgical removal to supportive care.

🌞 Prevention Tip: Limit sun exposure, especially during peak hours, and consider pet-safe sunscreen for high-risk areas.

📞 Early diagnosis can save lives. If you notice something unusual, don’t wait — contact us today.

Canine Parvovirus (or Parvo) is a highly contagious and potentially deadly virus that affects dogs, especially puppies. It spreads through contact with infected f***s, contaminated environments, or even on your shoes after walking in a public area.

🔬 Symptoms to watch for:
Severe vomiting and diarrhea (often bloody)
Lethargy and loss of appetite
Fever or low body temperature
Rapid dehydration

🛡️ Prevention is key:
Vaccination is your dog’s best defense against this aggressive virus. Puppies should begin their vaccine series at 6–8 weeks of age, with boosters to follow. Adult dogs also need regular boosters to stay protected.

🏥 If you notice any of the symptoms above, act quickly. Early treatment can save lives.

📍At VETNC Vets, we’re here to help keep your pets safe and healthy. If you suspect Parvo or want to ensure your dog is protected, contact us today.

Did you know dogs rely on their sense of smell far more than sight—but that doesn’t mean vision isn’t important! Dogs can see movement incredibly well and have excellent night vision, but they’re also prone to a number of eye problems that can affect their comfort and quality of life.

🔍 Common eye issues in dogs include:
Redness or discharge
Cloudiness or bluish tint
Excessive tearing
Squinting or pawing at the eyes
Visible third eyelid

✅ What you can do:
Check your dog’s eyes regularly and don’t ignore subtle signs. If something seems off, we recommend a quick exam to catch any issues early.

As temperatures rise, so does the risk of ticks and fleas making themselves at home on your pet. These tiny pests are more than just a nuisance – they can transmit serious diseases and cause skin irritations or allergic reactions.

✅ Prevention is key!
Whether your pet loves long walks in the countryside or just naps in the garden, a consistent anti-parasitic routine is essential.

🔍 Look out for:
Excessive scratching or biting
Red or irritated skin
Tiny black or brown specks in their fur
🩺 At VETNC Vets, we offer trusted treatments and expert advice tailored to your pet’s needs.

📞 Call us today to book a check-up or refill your pet’s parasite prevention treatment.
