Last but not least is Astrid with a pupdate from New Brunswick!
Astrid's been adjusting extremely well and she's learning tons of different prompts like recall, nose target, sit, out and return by name. I'm super impressed with how quickly she's learning and she's always eager to play and learn 😊
In terms of behavior, she started nipping at our feet and pulling at my slippers, but we've been pretty consistent at handing her another toy or responding with "out" or nose target to get her distracted with something else. She's also been having A LOT of fun playing with our cat 😂 both of them go back and forth with each other and it's really funny to watch! We try our best to monitor them just in case things get too heated, but so far so good.
One incident did happen which is worth mentioning though. Unfortunately, our neighbor has three mastiffs that are extremely vocal and very big. During one of our playtimes outside, they escaped our neighbor's yard, started chasing her and she was very scared. No agressive behavior on their behalf or anything, but very big, loud and very intimidating. Since then she's been having a harder time going outside to p**p and I can tell she's a bit hesitant to go in the back, but I've been working very hard to make it a fun spot to play and I give her tons of treats when we go out so it's slowly getting better. At the very least, it didn't seem to cause any lasting issues–at least, to my knowledge.
All in all, Astrid is absolutely phenomenal! I even got her to fetch and return yesterday which was a huge deal for me 😂 She's such an intelligent and confident puppy and I just love her so much 😁
