🌸🐾 Meet Xena! 🐾🌸

This sweet girl was in for her spay surgery. She was such a brave patient and got lots of love from our team throughout the day.

Spaying is an important procedure that not only helps prevent unwanted litters, but also provides long-term health benefits for female cats—such as reducing the risk of uterine infections and certain cancers.

Xena is now resting comfortably and will be back to her playful self in no time! 💕

Way to go, Xena—you’re a superstar! ⭐🐱

From squeaky clean to gloriously covered in mud — all for a great cause!
Today, Riley (our amazing practice manager), Sabrina & Melissa (our superstar RVTs), and Nikol (our inventory wizard) took on the Mudgirl Run to raise awareness for breast cancer! 🏃‍♀️🌸

They conquered obstacles, got a little (okay… a LOT) dirty, and rocked those muddy smiles the whole way through.

🌟 Farewell, Sydney! 💕

A addition to an incredible summer, we want to give a heartfelt thank you and goodbye (for now!) to our amazing veterinary student, Sydney!

This was Sydney’s second summer with us, and in that time, she’s become such a valued part of our clinic family. Her passion for veterinary medicine, compassion for every patient, and drive to keep learning never go unnoticed. You can truly see how much she loves what she does — and we have no doubt that she’s going to make an incredible veterinarian one day.

We’ll miss her bright energy, curious questions, and kind spirit around the clinic — but we’re so excited to see what’s next for her. Go get ’em, Sydney! 🩺🐾

The day has come — and it’s bittersweet! 💙🐾
Today we said farewell to Dr. Schott on his last official day at Birchwood. It’s hard to put into words just how much he means to all of us — staff, clients, and countless furry friends alike.

Birchwood is what it is because of Dr. Schott. His compassion, dedication, and decades of care have shaped our clinic into the place it is today — a place of trust, love, and healing.

After 35 incredible years (yes, since 1990—some of our team wasn’t even born yet!), today marks Dr. Schott’s official last day at Birchwood as a veterinarian.

He’s been more than just a vet here—he’s been an incredible mentor, boss, and friend to so many of us. Whether you needed a clinical pearl of wisdom, a boost of encouragement, or just a good laugh, Dr. Schott was always there with his trademark positivity and legendary jokes.

His uplifting energy has carried us through some of the hardest days, and his passion for this profession—and for the people and pets in it—has left a permanent paw print on Birchwood’s heart.

Philipp, thank you for everything. You’ve made Birchwood a better place—for staff, clients, and critters alike. 💚

We’re so lucky to have had you all these years. Now go enjoy retirement—you’ve more than earned it!

🌟 Veterinary Assistant Appreciation Week Spotlight 🌟

today, we’re highlighting Kathryn, a long-standing and valued member of our team.

Kathryn’s compassionate spirit and deep love for animals are truly something special. She has a way of making every patient feel seen — whether she’s offering gentle cuddles or quietly delivering one of her signature pep talks to our in-hospital pets. 💬🐾

Her calm, comforting presence is felt by every animal (and human!) she works with — and we couldn’t be more grateful to have her on our team.

She’s also known for her adorable pup Lily, who has stolen all our hearts! 🐶💕 On top of all that, Kathryn brings a great sense of humor, unwavering support, and steady positivity to our clinic. Her dedication over the years has meant so much to our team, and we’re lucky to have her.
