The Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter is Manitoba’s first registered charity, NO-KILL animal shelter. Our Charitable Registration number is

Our Mission

The Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter is a non-profit charity committed to providing a euthanasia-free environment for unwanted animals through the provision of interim care and arrangement of adoptions to suitable owners.

Our Vision

The Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter aspires to a society in which pets are accorded the right to life and are recognized as beings with feelings that have the right to loving care. The Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter works towards this end by:

-Alleviating the suffering of animals by providing interim shelter
food and medical care

-Educating the public at every opportunity regarding the health-care of pets, and owners’ responsibilities concerning spaying and neutering

-Participating in spaying and neutering programs through coordination and liaisons with veterinary hospitals

Shelter Hours:
Monday to Friday -- 11am - 7pm
Saturday -- 11am - 6pm
Sunday and Holidays -- 11am - 6pm

Meet Hobbes 🐯
Hobbes is an extremely friendly, affectionate, adventurous guy! Once scrawny and very run down, he’s now plump and handsome as ever. Problem is, he can’t quite seem to get his health up to 100%, and we’re worried the stress of the shelter is what’s holding him back. That said, we are seeking a foster-to-adopt family for this loveable guy. This means that he will remain our responsibility when he first goes home (all necessary food and vetting will be covered by us) until we and our vet are confident in his health, at which point his foster family can officially become his adoptive family. In the interim, you would provide observant updates, lots of love, and administer medication if it is determined to be necessary. If this sounds like a good deal to you, please give us a call at 204-832-7387, or come visit Hobbes and discuss this with us in person at 12-2727 Portage Avenue. We look forward to meeting you! 🧡

This ray of sunshine came into our care heavily pregnant, stressed, and needing a soft place to land. Now that her kittens are nearly ready for adoption, Summer has come back from her foster home, and it’s time the attention is shone on her 🧡 She was an amazing mama, even adopting an orphan into her litter, but now, she finally gets to be a “kitten” again herself! Summer is very playful, talkative, and confident young lady. She loves her snacks and snuggles once the fun has been had!
