Black cats are fascinating felines defined by unique genetics, rich historical folklore, and distinct biological traits. Though often associated with Halloween superstitions, they are considered symbols of good luck and prosperity in many cultures around the world.

In North America and parts of Europe, medieval superstitions tied black cats to witchcraft and bad luck. Because of this lingering stigma, shelters often face longer rehoming times for black cats.

To the contrary, in Japan, a black cat crossing your path or owning one is believed to ward off evil and attract romantic suitors. In Scotland and France, a stray black cat on your porch is a sign of incoming wealth and economic prosperity.

British sailors historically kept black cats on ships because they were considered ultimate good luck charms to ensure a safe voyage home.

No matter what you believe, these special cats have a solid place in history!

The Pit Bull Terrier, often referred to as a "nanny dog", are filled with strength and confidence. This breed is eager to please and brimming over with enthusiasm. The breed's natural agility makes it one of the most capable canine climbers so good fencing is a must for this breed. This breed does very well in performance events because of its high level of intelligence and its willingness to work. Unfortunately these same amazing qualities have been exploited in the past and have unfortunately cast a shadow on the breed.

As temperatures start to drop, you may be wondering how long your dog should spend outdoors. The answer depends on factors like their size, coat type, and age. Keep an eye out for signs they're getting too cold, such as slowing down, shivering, or lifting their paws. When you notice these cues, it's time to head inside and warm up.

Check out our Cold Weather Lookbook for more expert tips on keeping your pet safe and comfortable this season. 🐾❄️
