Today is an incredibly heavy day for the NayNays Puppers family. 💔🐾

We are heartbroken to share that Kimbo, the beloved dog of our owner, has crossed over the rainbow bridge after a courageous battle with cancer.

Kimbo was more than just a dog — he was the heart behind NayNays Puppers. His presence, spirit, and unconditional love helped shape the passion, patience, and dedication that we bring to every dog and family we work with. He truly lived like the king he was, deeply loved and cherished every single day.

Just shy of 13 years old, Kimbo surpassed life expectancy and showed incredible strength and resilience right until the very end. Every extra moment with him was a blessing we will forever be grateful for.

Now, he runs free and pain-free, reunited over the rainbow bridge with his brothers Cheick and Kato. 🌈🐕

Kimbo leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and the reminder of why we do what we do. He will forever be a part of NayNays Puppers and always in our hearts.

Thank you to everyone who has shown love and support — it truly means everything during this time.
Run free, sweet boy. You will never be forgotten. 🕊️💙

Environment Shapes Behaviour More Than Commands

🔬 Science Principle: Antecedent Arrangement
Triggers matter more than corrections.

🐾 Practical Tip:
Block window access if barking is constant.
Use distance in reactive training.
Set up success before giving cues.

Every dog starts somewhere.
The puppy who pulls on the leash.
The dog who barks at everything.
The shy rescue learning to trust again.
Progress doesn’t happen overnight — it happens through patience, consistency, and understanding.
Small steps.
Small wins.
Big transformations.
The best dogs aren’t born — they’re guided. ❤️
🐾 Start the week with patience. Your dog is learning from you every single day.

Dogs repeat behaviours that lead to positive outcomes.

In behavioural science, this is called reinforcement. When a behaviour is followed by something rewarding, the brain becomes more likely to repeat that behaviour in the future.

This means training isn’t just about correcting unwanted behaviour.

It’s about actively rewarding the behaviours you want to see more often.

Examples:

Dog chooses to lie calmly → reward the calm.
Dog checks in with you on a walk → reward the attention.
Dog relaxes instead of reacting → reinforce that choice.

Every reward tells your dog:

“That behaviour works.”

The more those behaviours are reinforced, the stronger and more reliable they become.

Good training focuses less on stopping behaviour and more on building the behaviours we want repeated.

Comment 🐾 if you’ve ever seen your dog repeat something because it earned a reward.

Stress signals happen before reactions.

Dogs rarely react “out of nowhere.”

Before barking, lunging, or growling happens, most dogs show subtle stress signals that indicate discomfort or rising tension.

These early signals can include:

• Lip licking
• Yawning
• Looking away
• Freezing or stiff posture
• Slow movement or hesitation

These behaviours are part of a stress escalation ladder. As pressure increases, the dog’s nervous system becomes more activated.

By the time a strong reaction happens, the dog has often been communicating discomfort for several moments already.

Learning to recognize these early signals allows us to intervene sooner, reduce stress, and prevent escalation.

Good training starts with understanding what your dog is trying to communicate.

Comment 🐾 if you’ve ever noticed these subtle signals before a reaction.

Dogs don’t learn behaviours through a single success.
They learn through consistent repetition and reinforcement.

Every time your dog practices a behaviour, neural pathways in the brain become stronger. This process is known as neuroplasticity — the brain physically strengthening the connections associated with that behaviour.

The more a behaviour is repeated and rewarded, the more automatic it becomes.

This is why short, consistent training sessions are far more effective than occasional long ones.

Think of training like building muscle:

• Repetition builds strength
• Consistency builds reliability
• Practice builds confidence

Training isn’t about perfection in one session.
It’s about repeating the right behaviours until they become habits.

Comment 🐾 if you’ve noticed your dog improving through consistent practice.
