THE COUNTDOWN IS ON – THREE DAYS LEFT!

Please help BTRC get one vote closer to winning The McDougall Community Contest – a $5000 grand prize!

Foster Luna came to us after being deemed unadoptable by a shelter due to medical and behavioural concerns.

But at BTRC, we try to look at dogs differently. Where others see limitations, we see possibilities.

Today, Luna is living a wonderful life in her forever foster home, surrounded by a family who adores her exactly as she is.

Please vote for BTRC so we can continue to find homes for the dogs who are often overlooked.

ADOPTABLE EDWIN…

…a brilliant, hilarious, wildly entertaining young Boston Terrier who approaches life at approximately 200 km/h. 🏎

This busy little guy is equal parts athlete, comedian, cuddle bug and chaos coordinator. Aside from being absolutely adorable to look at, Edwin is incredibly smart, eager to learn, and always looking for his next adventure, game, puzzle, hike, zoomie session, or other opportunity to enjoy life!

While Edwin has made tremendous progress in foster care, he is not a “starter Boston.” He’s looking for a dog-savvy or breed-experienced home committed to continuing his training, providing structure and enrichment, and helping him channel all those big puppy feelings and even bigger Boston Terrier opinions into becoming the very best version of himself.

In return? You’ll get a deeply lovable little clown with endless personality who will absolutely keep you laughing every single day.

Betty wants everyone to know that we still have four days left of voting for the McDougall Community Contest!

$5,000 – when it comes to rescue, that means critical surgeries, essential diagnostics and life-saving medications. And Betty should know.

Three and a half years ago, on a cold winter day, Betty was found as a stray, in horrible condition. She had life-threatening pyometra, as well as a giant mass in her abdomen, a vaginal mass, a leg mass, a bladder infection and severe anemia.

Our volunteers worked fast and hard to get Betty the emergency surgeries we needed. This was all possible because we had the funds to do so.

Help us win this contest, so pups like Betty can be given a second chance. ❤️

Yes, we are asking you to vote. Again.

And we will continue to ask – every day – because we believe in our cause and we know you do too.

When BTRC foster Zeus was found in a ditch, he was fighting for his life. He was diabetic, severely malnourished and little more than skin and bones. He couldn’t wait days or weeks for help. He would not have survived.

Because BTRC had the resources to act immediately, we did. We got him the care he desperately needed. And that quick action changed everything. It saved his life.

Today, we’re asking for one small action from you.

A quick click. A quick vote. A quick share.

It takes only seconds, but those seconds could help us win $5,000 and continue the life-changing work we do.

Please vote for BTRC in the McDougall Community Contest every day until May 31.

Because when a dog’s life is on the line, every second – and today, every click – matters. ❤️

Lincoln and Tucker travelled from Alberta to Ontario, leaving the past behind. But they came to rescue with one thing they couldn’t bear to lose – each other.

These two boys share a bond that’s impossible to ignore. Through every change, every uncertainty and every challenge life has placed in front of them, they’ve remained side by side. They find comfort and confidence in one another and a sense of home.

Another thing that’s undeniable is how adorable these boys are. They’re a hit everywhere they go, capturing everyone’s attention – and hearts!

We know adopting two dogs can feel like a lot. But Lincoln and Tucker aren’t asking for much. They don’t need adventure or extravagance. They’re happiest soaking up affection, playing with their toys, and simply being near the people they love.

These boys have been through a lot, yet they continue to trust and to love. And we continue to hope. Every day that Lincoln and Tucker wait, we wonder where their family is. We know they’re out there – a family that might not yet know they’re missing a precious piece of their lives.

Lincoln and Tucker have each other. They always will. Now they’re just waiting for a family willing to give them the one thing they have never had – a place to belong forever. ❤️

Could that be you?

The McDougall Community Contest is still live, and BTRC needs your vote!

We could win $5,000 with just one daily click from our loyal supporters.

Why is winning this contest so important to us? It helps us say yes to the dogs that many would overlook.

When Mya came into our care, she was 14 years old, blind, deaf, battling Cushing’s disease, living with a failing liver, and so medically frail that her first surgery had to be postponed while we worked to stabilize her health.

Many would have seen a dog that was too old...too sick…and too expensive.

BTRC saw a life worth fighting for.

Since then, Mya has undergone multiple surgeries, procedures and diagnostics, and today, at almost 15.5 years old, she is a spunky, energetic girl who loves and lives life to its fullest.

Dogs like Mya are why this $5,000 matters.

A little Mister update from his forever home. ❤️

Back in the summer of 2021, a scared little stray with no known history arrived at a shelter. They reached out to BTRC describing him as an older Boston Terrier with possible complex medical needs and most likely a poor prognosis.

Once he arrived in rescue, our community helped choose his new name: Radar. Somewhere along the way though, his foster mom started calling him “Mister” – and like many good nicknames, it simply stuck.

Although he definitely needed some TLC when he entered rescue, Mister quickly proved he had plenty of life – and personality – left in him. What started as foster care quietly became permanent when his mom realized she couldn’t imagine letting him go.

These days, Mister is estimated to be around 14-15 years old. Recently, his mom became concerned after he started losing weight again and becoming increasingly finicky about food. Thankfully, after a full veterinary workup and extensive blood testing, his results came back as “unremarkable” – reassuring news for a senior gentleman.

Now the focus is simple: keeping Mister happy, comfortable, and eating well with softer foods, appetite support, and plenty of creativity in the kitchen.

Age is starting to show a little in his vision and hind legs, but Mister is still very much himself – supervising treat schedules, being escorted around the house at night by his devoted “guide cat,” and still finding the energy to sing the songs of his people. 🎶🐾

His mom shared something that really resonated with us: “I wasn’t looking for permanent residency, but sometimes they know better than we do.”

And sometimes rescue really is about giving a dog the chance to prove everyone wrong. ❤️

Some goodbyes feel especially heavy. Heartbreakingly so when a dog’s time in their forever home feels far too short. Today, we remember one of those special ones – our beloved alumni, Duke, at almost fourteen and a half years old.

Duke, a senior, came to BTRC after the heartbreaking loss of his human. When it comes to adoption, older dogs are often overlooked because the time you have together may be shorter, and they require a little extra support as they age. This wasn’t the case for Duke. His foster family welcomed him precisely because he was a senior, and because they knew they could provide the extra care he needed.

He was chosen.

And before long, it was clear he had found his forever home, as his fosters officially adopted him.

Choosing to adopt a senior dog is a special kind of kindness. You are giving a precious soul the chance at the golden years they deserve.

That’s exactly what Duke found.

With his canine brothers, Daxton and Brodie, by his side, he had many adventures in the great outdoors. He also had parents who absolutely adored him; Duke was, and still is, incredibly loved and deeply cherished. When his beloved “Chuck It” ball made an appearance, he became a puppy again and could run endlessly playing fetch. And, when he needed extra support as his hearing diminished, his brothers were there to guide him. He also had something many pups dream of – a mom who works from home and a dad who is a veterinarian.

Recently, Duke began to feel the effects of age and his Cushing’s disease. It was time for this sweet boy to rest, and he had his family by his side. ❤️‍🩹

His parents share: “He crept into our hearts almost instantly and made himself right at home. His spirit, attitude, and spark never faded. I know he felt safe, welcome, and loved here. I’m grateful that we could be his family and surround him with love throughout his final years. He gave us so much more in return…he had many layers, but at the centre of it all, he just wanted his people and love.” 💖

To Duke’s parents – thank you. The compassion and love it takes to welcome a senior dog like Duke into your heart in his golden years is something truly special.

Rest easy, Master Duke. You will never be forgotten. 🐾🌈✨

VOTE AGAIN TODAY!

Every vote in the McDougall Community Contest helps BTRC continue the life-changing work we do when dogs need us most.

Take Boone, for example.

As one of our beloved Set for Life dogs, Boone recently began experiencing ongoing gastrointestinal issues. After multiple veterinary visits and extensive diagnostic testing, he was diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). We are now working closely with his veterinary team to find the right combination of treatment and management strategies to keep him comfortable and healthy.

Like all of our Set for Life dogs, we have committed to supporting Boone’s medical needs for the rest of his life, ensuring that nothing comes in the way of his happily-ever-after. He’s already found it. ❤️

That’s why this $5,000 prize is so important.

It allows us to act immediately when a dog needs care. It helps cover unexpected medical expenses. Most importantly, it helps us continue providing the safety net that gives dogs like Boone the care they deserve.

✅ Vote again tomorrow.
