Athena is loving the warmer weather! Do you know what would make it even better? If she had a forever family to enjoy it with.

Easter weekend at her foster grandparents’ home was full of adventure, and Athena loved running around the big yard and taking in the intoxicating smells. Her tail never stopped wagging – until it was time to curl up on grandpa’s lap for a nap. ♥️

This adorable girl has so much to offer and wants nothing more than a human companion to shower with kisses and cuddles. Athena would love a family who is around often or can take her along on their outings, as she thrives in the company of people. She enjoys spending time with her patient and respectful BT foster brother, but doesn’t appreciate pups who push her boundaries (she’s a girl who knows what she wants! 😉). Being the only pet? Athena wouldn’t mind this either, as she loves lots of attention.🥰

If you want to add a playful, affectionate and sweet pup to your home, find out more about Athena here: www.bostonterrierrescuecanada.com/dog/athena

Romeo’s been patient. He knows that finding a forever home isn’t something that can be rushed. But he is a little worried. It’s been over four months since he was first posted for adoption, and he’s wondering if his family is out there.

We’ve reassured Romeo that even though waiting can be hard, it will all be worth it when he finds the right match. And his future family will be very lucky, as this boy is bursting with love and is a fun and playful companion. He oozes enthusiasm, is eager to please, and has a true zest for life (and squirrel patrol!). ♥️🐿️

If you want a one-and-only pet and are ready to look at this gorgeous face day after day, Romeo might be your man! To find out more information and find his application form, visit: www.bostonterrierrescuecanada.com/dog/romeo/

Just like moms, dogs love unconditionally. The purchase of this gift has helped make the life of a rescue dog brighter.

Wishing you a wonderful day filled with happiness and a little extra sparkle!”

Sure to add a touch of bling to any outfit, this necklace pairs a 2.3cm x 1.8cm (approx. 1” x 0.75”) charm, decorated with black and silver rhinestones, with a 50cm (approx. 20”) silver-plated chain. Limited to just 50 – don’t miss out!

Hello, Jaxon!

Jaxon is a five-year-old Boston who recently came to us as a transfer from an all-breed rescue. He had been adopted out once while in their care, but it was quickly discovered that he is not a fan of cats. 😬 Wanting to set him up for success, they reached out to BTRC to help find him a more suitable forever home. So, Jaxon is now in a BTRC foster home and we’re getting to know him.

Jaxon has already made himself comfortable in his new digs and has claimed ‘his spot’ on the couch. He’s very taken with his foster dad, following him wherever he goes and nestling close during snuggle time. ♥️ Jaxon is quite the ‘MacGyver’ as he’s figured out how to open the treat cupboard himself! 😂 Since Jaxon needs to lose a few pounds, his foster family has relocated the snacks to a secret hiding spot so he can’t over-indulge.

With a vet appointment coming up, we’ll be sure to post another update soon!

Jaxon is being fostered in Newmarket, ON, and is not yet ready for adoption.

It’s been one year in foster care for Nikky, and she couldn’t be happier. Her foster parents proudly call themselves her forever family because they are – Nikky is part of our Set for Life program and has found the perfect place to call home. ♥️

Nikky’s parents wanted to celebrate her special day in a big way, so they decided to take her out for ice cream. After 12 years of do***ng, Nikky finally had her first taste of the delicious, creamy and cold delicacy, and let’s just say, she was sold!

Congrats to Nikky on one year of amazing memories! 🥳

Piper’s Easter photoshoot was so successful that she requested to be the model for today’s social media post. And after looking at her sweet face, we couldn’t imagine a cuter Easter Bunny!

Holidays are a great opportunity to remind people to celebrate with safety in mind. Like most festivities, Easter often involves delectable treats, and while humans can usually indulge freely, it’s important to be mindful of what’s appropriate for your dog. It’s common knowledge that chocolate is not safe for dogs, but candy can be deadly too if it contains xylitol. Desserts with dried fruit like raisins and currents are also toxic, while the small items or fake grass that fill Easter baskets can be mistaken for toys and ingested.

For some, Easter is also a time for gathering, which means your dog has the opportunity to soak up lots of love and attention too! And though holidays can be both egg-citing and egg-hausting, we hope you get the chance to do something you enjoy with your loved ones.

Happy Easter! 🐣🐰🐾

We have some sad news to share. BTRC has lost another precious alum, Lily. Adopted nearly nine years ago, this beautiful girl was cherished beyond measure by her family.

Surrendered to BTRC because she had neurological issues, Lily’s family said they never held her back. Though sometimes unstable on her feet, her determination surpassed any struggles, and she lived a full and happy life.

Lily enjoyed taking in the beauty of Claremont, ON, but the conditions had to be just right. No wind, no rain, no snow, no fog, not too hot and not too cold. Essentially, there were about seventeen days in the year she would deem acceptable enough to go for a walk. 😂

The sound of the espresso machine was music to Lily’s ears because it meant she would get a taste of frothy milk. But when Dad started to drink his brew with no milk, Lily was confused. Why would the machine make “the noise” but there was no milk froth to enjoy afterwards? Needless to say, Dad couldn’t bear the disappointed look on her face, so he became her own personal barista, so she could enjoy a bevvy alongside Dad’s coffee. ☕

Warm drinks were not Lily’s only preferred delicacy. Christmas and Thanksgiving were her favourite holidays because she knew her family's skills of resistance were at their weakest, and she would enjoy culinary delicacies such as turkey liver and heart with some carrots and a touch of gravy. 🥕

Lily was a very affectionate dog, and she never met a stranger; as long as they showered her with belly rubs, she showered them with kisses. And though Lily loved everyone, she found her greatest comfort with her humans – especially wedged between Mom and Dad’s pillows. They will miss her gentle snores and her comforting presence.

Her parents say, “She was a wonderful doggo who lived her very best life with us; we were blessed to have her. We’re very sad she’s gone, but will treasure every moment she spent with us and all of our wonderful memories.” ♥️

Lily, you will be forever missed, but you will never be forgotten. Run free sweet girl. 🐾🌈💕

Can you believe it’s been a month since Baxter joined his current foster-to-adopt home? 🐾

He’s doing so well – happy, goofy, and settling in beautifully. He’s proudly prancing with his new chew, launching into zoomies that defy gravity, and treating everyone to some truly dramatic storytelling.

And yet, this philosopher in a fur coat still makes time to ponder life’s deeper questions – especially squirrels. 🐿️

He’s one of a kind, our Baxter. And stay tuned, we hope to share another update soon! 💛

Brutus has big summer plans — and he’s not letting anything stop him! 😎🐾

He’s making progress every single day, slow and steady, with that determined, big heart. This week, he’ll check in with his neurologist, and we hope she’ll be as pleased as we are with how he is doing.

Thank you to everyone who’s donated so generously, sent well-wishes, or is rooting for this brave boy! Each and every one of you is a big part of his comeback story — and he couldn’t do it without you. 💪💛

Brutus is being fostered in the GTA, and we’re not yet accepting adoption applications. He still has a way to go before he’s ready for his forever family. If you’d like to donate to his care, please visit www.bostonterrierrescuecanada.com/donate.

Thank you again for your continued support for Brutus, and all of the dogs in BTRC’s care. 🙏

BTRC foster Mya has been busy! Just three weeks after her dental surgery, she underwent an enucleation and had a mast cell tumour removed. Though we knew her eye would likely need to come out at some point, a recent visit to the vet showed dangerously high pressure in her left eye, so the need for surgery became urgent.

Needless to say, Mya was annoyed – but not for the reasons you might think. Yes, she was required to wear the dreaded cone, but that’s not why she was peeved; she was shocked that it was so drab! Mya claimed that she deserved a cone as fabulous as she is, so she requested that her foster mom get to work. After a few hours of bossy requests, her mom created a look that was finally satisfactory to Mya. When her mom pointed out that Mya couldn’t even see the cone, so she didn’t understand the fuss, Mya told her that vision is overrated and a gal has to FEEL fabulous – and hand-painted strawberries do just that. 😂🍓

Aside from looking like a queen, Mya has more to celebrate! Her biopsy results came back, and her MCT was Grade 2/low grade, which means there’s a very low chance it will come back or spread. The fact that the vet got clear margins during removal is also very reassuring. We are thrilled with this news, as is Mya, but she’s made it clear that she’s still on the mend, so the royal treatment must continue. After surgery, the human bed was not her chosen sleeping spot as she much preferred her favourite cushion on the floor. The catch? She also requested her parents sleep within a paw’s distance on the floor as well. So, with a mattress in the living room, the whole family squishes in each night so Mya can sleep soundly. When Mya’s foster mom asked how long this sleeping arrangement would last, Mya simply shrugged and indicated – for as long as she wanted. 😉

Mya is being fostered in Oakville, ON, and is not yet ready for adoption.
