Remember Perdita? Our lovely mama who came to us from a Northern Ontario community at the beginning of the year with her six puppies in tow.

Perdita’s journey hasn’t been the easiest. Through no fault of her own, she came to us carrying some trust challenges - sometimes around people and definitely around other dogs. The world hasn’t always felt like a safe place for her.

That’s why Perdita moved into one of our specialized foster homes, where she’s been getting exactly what she needs: time, patience, consistency and lots of opportunities to learn all the new things.

Since being in foster, Perdita has been working hard on building trust, learning how to walk on a leash and becoming more comfortable being around other dogs. And according to her foster mom, she’s doing great! ❤️

Her journey isn’t over yet and Perdita still has more learning and growing ahead of her. While she is available for adoption, she’ll need a family that understands where she’s coming from and is committed to continuing the work to help her build confidence, celebrate the wins and become the very best version of herself.

Dogs like Perdita remind us that progress doesn’t always happen overnight. Sometimes it looks like trust. Sometimes it looks like bravery. Sometimes it looks like one small step at a time.

Every dog deserves a chance and we know Perdita’s person is out there.

🐾 Lucy Update 🐾

It’s been several weeks since Lucy arrived in our care and one thing she has shown us above all else - she absolutely LOVES love. This sweet girl is a total snuggle bug who soaks up every bit of affection she can get, and despite everything she's been through, her gentle spirit continues to shine.

While Lucy is still on her health care journey, we're happy to report that she is on her way to recovery. Her skin condition remains severe and she still has a long road ahead, but thanks to multiple medications, proper veterinary care and lots of TLC, she has already begun to heal. Every day we see small improvements and we're hopeful for what the future holds for this deserving girl.

Severe skin conditions like Lucy’s require weeks, often months, of ongoing treatment and medication. While we're encouraged by her progress, her journey is far from over. As her body heals, we remain committed to providing her with everything she needs to become healthy, comfortable and pain-free.
