Kidz Dayz Junior Handlers Camp is back for 1 week only this August!

Has your child ever wanted to learn everything there is about dogs? What makes them tick, how to train them, and the best way to care for them? If so, look no further! If your child is between the ages of 8 and 14, this camp is made for them. They will learn everything they need to know about the different breeds, dog sports, anatomy, and how to train a variety of fun different tricks with much much more! 🐶

Your child will get assigned a dog at the beginning of the week. They will work alongside them to teaching tricks and will get to show them off at the end of the week. We will have daily guest presentations from breeders, dog trainers, animal medical professionals and many other experts in the field. The days will be filled with a variety of dog-related games, crafts, and educational interactive lessons, all coordinated by our trainer Angele. 🐕🐾

Have you ever seen the crazy stunts and fantastic tricks some dogs do online and wondered how to get your dog to do it?

Join us for Trick Training! Tricks are a great way to learn the basics of behaviour. Dogs and handlers work together to figure out the steps needed for various tricks and have fun doing it! Tricks can help build confidence and excitement with various behaviours in your dog.

Summer is here and we are excited! 🌞

Looking for an activity for you and your canine companion this summer? Join us at The Dog Gym for a variety of training classes!

At TDG our focus is to help handlers better understand how their dog thinks and learns. By understanding the canine brain we can tailor our training exercises to better help them understand what is expected of them.

Using a variety of exercises and games we use shaping and positive reinforcement training to keep the training fun and engaging for your dog. Not only do the dogs have fun but the handlers do as well! Building foundation skills that are useful not only in classes but in every day life makes living with your dog enjoyable and stress free.

So what are the classes?
Puppy Head Start 🐶- a 4 week course for all puppies under 18 weeks, this course focuses on the basics of puppy raising as well as common challenges that come with puppyhood. This is a great start for all new dog parents!

Builders Level 1 🐾- This is our foundational, 8 week course for all dogs over 18 weeks of age. This course focuses on building a positive, working relationship with your dog while also working on the basics of obedience and leash manners. This course is a great jumping point for all further courses.

Builders Level 2 and 3 🐾- these courses begin to challenge and expand on the behaviours learned in Builders 1. Learning to work on behaviours at a distance, off leash skills, advanced recalls and advanced heeling push teams to build longer focus and drive. Teams must either complete B1 or complete a skill challenge with instructors in order to register for these courses.

Skill Builders: 4 Week Series 🎯- New for 2025 are the Skill Builders: 4 week Courses! These courses are shortened courses that will focus on single behaviours and how to work with or through them. Teams will work solely on the behaviours without the distraction of learning multiple skills each week. These courses will have limited spaced available to ensure all teams are successful! Topics include Loose Leash Walking, Recalls, Jumping Up/Mindful Greetings, Competitive Heelwork and Focus! Distraction Training. There are no prerequisite classes needed to attend the Skill Builders courses.

Trick Training 🎪- Leash work not your jam? Try Trick Training! This 8 week course will have teams working on 2-3 tricks each week! Some tricks will be easy, some will have multiple steps and require more time. By the end of the course, teams will have a chance to be evaluated for their Novice Trick Dog title with Do More With Your Dog. This course is open to everyone! No prerequisites required!

Rally Obedience 🐩- Looking to enter the world of competitive dog shows? Rally Obedience may be for you! Navigate a course of various signs that ask for different behaviours and skills that display teamwork and enjoyment between handler and dog. This course will prep for the Novice Rally Obedience level in CKC competition.

Looking for something faster? Agility may be your speed. This course is currently in development with the anticipated introduction in Summer 2025.

*All performance classes will require the completion of the Builders Series or skill testing to Builders Level 3. All teams must attend Builders 3 to ensure basic skills are established. Dogs must be proficient on and off leash and around other dogs and distractions in order to participate safely in performance classes. Some courses will require a veterinary health certificate in order to register *

The Skill Builders- 4 Wk Series are just that- 4 week long courses that focus on specific, core skills. During these classes we will work on the individual topic and help teams work through the steps to perfect their skills.

We will be starting them off with Loose Leash Walking with Angele. This course will help develop good leash manners using real world scenarios with various distractions. The course will be taught partially in the Gym and partially outside and on the sidewalks to help gain experience with typical distractions you may encounter.

These courses will have a limit on teams so register soon to avoid disappointment! As classes are held partially outside- dates may change due to weather factors.

Not what your looking for? We will also be adding classes for Jumping Up/Mindful Greetings, Recalls, Competitive Heelwork and Focus! Distraction Training. If you are interested send us an email and let us know!

The day is here! Join us tomorrow, May 31st at Gillies Lake! Learn about our classes, meet the trainers and try out some of our Agility equipment. Registrations will be available for all open classes. While there check out our friends at Run A Mutt to learn about dog powdered sports!

We are excited to be joining Pet Valu Timmins Hollinger Court, KiSS 99.3 and St John Ambulance Therapy Dogs to help fundraise this year.
