Recently this rescue & others were tagged in a socials post which asked friends to assist them in finding a dog to adopt. The post noted having tried many rescues & feeling defeated. (I am sorry you feel that way- that isn't a good way to feel).
I loved this post, because what a great opportunity to use word of mouth for help in finding a dog- Because word of mouth matters.
However, it goes both ways. And with many comments on that post discussing age, accommodations etc , I thought what a great opportunity to make sure people have FACTS around how we work because again, word of mouth matters.
1- YES- we LOVE our senior to senior adoptions. We fully support senior people adopting senior dogs. ❤️
2- YES- we DO adopt to individuals in apartments- of course! *unless the dog is a known howler or barker at every single noise & then we're happy to recommend another one instead so your neighbors don't complain- But don't worry- we will always note this in the dogs adoption bio too.
3- YES- we DO adopt to individuals without a fenced yard- of course! *unless the dog is a known flight risk where it wouldn't be safe. Let's find you a dog who has great recall or help you develop a great plan instead.
4- YES- we DO adopt to ALL sorts of families. No family or home is the same. Being unique is what makes us all awesome. Plus- dogs don't care if you live on your own or live with a larger number of people too. And yep- you guessed it- if a dog is child friendly or not- that info is placed in their bio too. We want your adoption to be successful just as much as you.
5- YES- we DO look at each applicant & each dog an INDIVIDUAL vs any sort of blanket response. Again- we're all unique and so are the dogs.
6- YES- you can work full time. So do I. That's how I pay for my dogs 😆.
And while we can only speak for ourselves, here at Happy's Place- being unique and diverse ROCKS! And to those still looking- your best bud is out there- you just haven't met them yet ❤️.
