Choosing the Right Puppy for the Right Family.
At Renabar Poodles, we do not assign puppies to their new families until they are between 8 and 11 weeks of age. While we understand the excitement of choosing a puppy, waiting allows us to make the best possible match for both the puppy and its future family.
During this important developmental period, each puppy's personality, temperament, and energy level become much more apparent. We carefully observe how every puppy interacts with people, littermates, and new experiences, and we perform temperament evaluations to better understand their individual characteristics.
We also assess each puppy's structure, movement, bite, and overall health. As puppies grow, subtle physical changes can occur, and waiting until this stage allows us to make informed decisions about placement.
Equally important are the lessons puppies learn from their mother and littermates. During these final weeks together, they develop valuable social skills, bite inhibition, confidence, and appropriate canine communication—foundations that help them become well-adjusted companions.
For these reasons, Renabar Poodles does not place puppies on a first-come, first-choice basis. Instead, we carefully evaluate each puppy and thoughtfully match them with the family whose lifestyle, experience, activity level, and expectations are the best fit. Our goal is to create lifelong partnerships where both the puppy and its family can thrive together.
We believe that taking the time to make the right match is one of the most important responsibilities of a dedicated breeder and gives each puppy the greatest opportunity for a happy, successful life.
