Meet Freddie 💙🐾 Currently accepting applications for a big brother or big sister!

Freddie is a 4 month old Boston Terrier mix with a heart full of joy and a personality that's already shining bright. ✨

This little guy is the definition of a social butterfly. He loves observing the world from a cozy spot just as much as he loves greeting his people with a wagging tail and eager eyes. Wherever you go, Freddie is sure to follow, quietly keeping you company like the loyal best friend he's destined to be. 🐶💫

He's a smart pup who's already learning basic commands like "sit," working hard on his recall, and doing wonderfully with house training. He'll even let you know when he needs to head outside! On leash, he's happy and curious, occasionally getting playful with it, but easily redirected. 🚪🐕

Freddie is the perfect mix of playful and snuggly. 🎾💤 He loves squeaky toys, carries his blanket from room to room, and after a good play session is always ready for a cozy nap. 🧸💕

He's currently living with dogs of all sizes and personalities and is doing amazing. Freddie would truly thrive in a home with another dog to learn from and bond with. As a young, high energy puppy, he needs plenty of exercise, play, and mental stimulation, and a canine companion would help him burn off energy while teaching him the ropes. In fact, Freddie is currently accepting applications for a big brother or big sister to share toys, play adventures, and help guide him as he grows into the amazing dog he will be! 🐾🐕‍🦺

Freddie is still working on crate training and may protest a bit at first, but he settles in with time and is already showing great progress. 🙌

His ideal home would have a fenced yard, an active family, and people who enjoy including him in their daily adventures. He's happiest when he's part of the action. 🌳🏡

With his sweet masked face, loving personality, and eagerness to please, Freddie is ready to bring endless joy, laughter, and cuddles to his forever family. ❤️

Sophie is an 8 year old Bichon Frise weighing just 8 pounds, but what she lacks in size, she makes up for in love. This sweet girl is quiet, affectionate, and happiest when she's curled up beside her people.

Sophie has a calm, laid back personality and enjoys the simple things in life. She loves spending time outdoors wandering around the yard, soaking up the sunshine, and then returning inside for a cozy nap. 🌞🐶

She gets along well with other dogs, although she mostly prefers to do her own thing rather than play. She's been wonderful with children aged 4 and up during visits, but we feel she would be happiest in a quieter home without young children living there full time.

🐾SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES ADOPTIONS 🐾

Some dogs come into rescue needing more than just “love.” Some come from puppy mill or hoarding situations where humans were frightening, overwhelming, or simply never part of normal life. These dogs are deeply traumatized, fearful, and often extremely antisocial when they first enter care.

For many of these dogs, the path forward is not forcing affection, excessive handling, or trying to make them “normal.” The path forward is space, patience, predictability, and incredibly low expectations.

These dogs often do best in calm homes with other confident dogs. Having a stable canine companion helps them learn the rhythms of living in a home and gives them someone safe to follow while they slowly observe human life from a distance.

Adopters need to understand:• Progress may take months, not days• House training can take significant time• Some dogs may never become traditionally outgoing or social• Pushing interaction too quickly can create setbacks, fear biting, or complete shutdown• The goal is to let them exist safely until THEY decide humans may be worth trusting.

These dogs thrive when people work very hard to “pretend they aren’t there.” That sounds strange, but it is often exactly what traumatized dogs need. They need the opportunity to watch humans without pressure or expectation. Curiosity comes later. Trust comes later. Bonding comes later.

And when it finally happens, it is incredibly deep and rewarding.
MARS is offering these dogs through our Special Circumstances Adoption Program:• Reduced $300 adoption fee• Fee refunded in full after completion of a required 7-hour online training course plus a 1-hour private training session

All applicants will still go through MARS’ regular screening and approval process. These dogs require very specific homes and very committed adopters.

We are not looking for perfect homes. We are looking for patient humans who understand trauma, respect boundaries, and are willing to move at the dog’s speed instead of their own.

Meet sweet little Georgia — a 2-year-old Corgi with a heart as big as her adorable sploots 💛🐾

At 24 lbs, Georgia is the perfect compact companion: playful when it’s time for fun 🎾, cuddly when it’s time to relax 🛋️, and always happiest right by your side. In fact, her favorite job is being your tiny shadow — following you from room to room just to make sure she never misses a moment with her people 🥰

Georgia has a gentle, affectionate personality and loves making new human friends. She’s friendly with kids, though she’s still practicing keeping all four paws on the floor when she gets excited to say hello! 🐶 She’s crate trained, house trained, leash trained, and overall an easygoing girl with low-to-medium energy. Whether it’s a stroll outside 🌳, a game of ball 🎾, or curling up beside you on the couch, Georgia is simply happy being included.

She can be a little nervous around bigger dogs at first, but with slow introductions she may do well. Because of this, she’d likely thrive as the only pet or in a calm home with the right canine companion. She hasn’t met cats yet, so her feelings on feline roommates remain a mystery 🐱❓

One of Georgia’s cutest habits? She loves lounging on her belly with her little back feet stretched straight out behind her — classic Corgi sploot style 🍗😂 Between that, her sweet nature, and her endless affection, she has a way of making every day brighter ☀️

Meet sweet little Pumpkin 🧡 — a 13.8-pound shadow with a serious talent for cuddling.

This adorable Chug (Pug x Chihuahua mix) 🐶 will be turning 7 this July, but don’t let her age fool you — Pumpkin still has plenty of playful moments left in her! She loves tossing around toys 🎾, playing fetch, and then rewarding herself with a well-earned nap curled up beside her favorite human 😴

Bella’s big week is finally here. 💛

After months in MARS care, Bella heads to a specialist in the Collingwood area this Wednesday for her much-needed TPLO surgery. This surgery will help get her out of pain and give her the chance to walk, run, and enjoy life comfortably again.

When Bella first came into care in January, she had a worsening limp that eventually led to x-rays confirming a ruptured CCL ligament. Because of her size, TPLO surgery is the recommended option for the best long-term outcome.

Bella will remain in MARS care throughout her recovery process, which means there are still many weeks of rehab, follow-up appointments, medications, and careful recovery ahead of her.

We also wanted to be transparent about where things currently stand financially, because we know many people wonder where rescue funds and adoption fees go.

So far, Bella’s surgery fundraisers have raised:

🐾 Jay’s Raffle: $1,350
🐾 Bryan Adams VIP Raffle: $1,240

💛 Total Raised So Far: $2,590

Bella’s surgery is estimated to cost between $4,500 and $5,500, not including recovery-related expenses.

When Bella is eventually ready for adoption, her adoption fee will be $850. We hope sharing real numbers like this helps people understand how rescue adoption fees work. Adoption fees rarely cover the full cost of care for dogs with medical needs, and community support is often what allows us to say yes to dogs like Bella in the first place.
