Cats cannot manufacture enough taurine on their own and must obtain it through their food. Taurine plays an important role in heart function, vision, reproduction, digestion and overall health. This is one reason properly balanced feline nutrition matters—not simply feeding ground meat alone.

A complete diet needs the correct balance of muscle meat, organs, essential fatty acids, vitamins and minerals, with appropriate calcium and phosphorus. Nutritional needs can also change with age, activity, pregnancy, growth and health conditions.
