Rocky Organization for Animal Rescue

Rocky Organization for Animal Rescue R.O.A.R. Society is a non profit animal rescue dedicated to saving the lives of abandon, unwanted, neglected and/or abused animals in our local communities.

Rocky Organization for Animal Rescue Society is a Provincially & Federally registered, incorporated not for profit society that currently operates a successful animal rescue business based out of Rocky Mountain House. Society takes in, cares for and/or rehabilitates stray/unwanted/abused animals with the main focus being on cats and dogs. The group then re-homes these animals back into suitable, p

ermanent homes. Our Society is a no kill rescue and we are very happy to announce that we are the proud owners of a our very own shelter facility! We continue to operate solely through our volunteer and foster home network. All operating funds currently are limited to public fundraisers and donations. The Society was founded in 2004 by Leah Marshall when she seen a need for a solution for the abandon/stray animal population in the town of Rocky Mountain House and surrounding communities. Originally based and serving in the town of Rocky Mountain House the group is now serving all the out lying communities in the area as well. To date our Society has rescued well over 1000 animals with a 98% re-homing/adoption rate. also provides support to anyone who may have lost/found pets by helping provide temporary homes, additional numbers and information to assist in the safe return of the animals in question. To date we have helped countless dogs and cats find their way back to their owners when they have become lost. advocates for responsible pet ownership in the community and surrounding areas by providing spay/neuter information and other pet ownership education, as well as they offer a refund incentive to people who spay and neuter their animals at the local vet clinics. The group also works with local Victim Services and the Woman's Shelter when they have cases involving animals in need and are in close contact with Town Council to maintain a good channel of communication with the By-Law Officers. In addition to the above, we also run a program called the S.A.F.E. Project, (Sundre Animal Foster Expansion Project) in the town of Sundre in Mountainview County to assist with unclaimed animals picked up by the Town of Sundre's Animal Control Officer. We will always continue to house animals as much as possible with volunteer foster homes until someone adopts them. All animals are spayed or neutered, have a full vet check, and receive their first shots and a booster before going to their new homes. We have a 10 day holding period on all animals, if at the end of that 10 days the animal remains unclaimed then ownership is considered to be forfeited and the animal is then put through it's necessary medical work and placed up for adoption.

Every Tuesday in the month of June ROAR does the Bingo volunteering at Dovercourt Hall. We are hoping to built a small list of back up volunteers who can be called on if someone needs to cancel or if we find ourselves short volunteers.

At the moment we are especially looking for a 1 more person for tonight and June 23. If you are available and would like to help, please send us a message.

We were so honoured to have been the recipient of the 1st Annual Legacy walk. Thank you so much to In Chloe's Footsteps - A Society for Animal Wellness and the community for supporting this amazing event.

Together we made a difference. 🐾💚

Thanks to the incredible support of our community, the 1st Annual Legacy Walk raised $1,432 for The ROAR Society. Every donation, every step, and every supporter helped continue Chloe’s legacy of compassion and animal wellness.

Jack Jack is the kind of cat that turns everyday into an adventure. He's playful, outgoing, and always ready to make you laugh. He loves water, (yes loves it!), adores toys and stuffed animals. He has such a silly and curious nature.

But as you can tell from the photos this guy is also a professional napper and loves curling up for some down time. Might be the perfect mix of chaos and cuddle!

Jack Jack is currently thriving in a foster home where he does amazing with a dog and other cats, making him a great fit for a home with furry babies already in it. He can get the odd tummy ache so he does require a gastro diet to keep his tummy happy and health.

If you would like to meet this goofy guy fill out a preadoption form and we will be in contact. https://forms.zohopublic.com/theroarsociety/form/PreAdoptionForm/formperma/Q5HcAVT3miF2Dx9wpLL3rWNkgQLuBOplpAKZY0SUKec

We have been busy here! This spring we have had so many animals find their forever homes. But unfortunately the calls never stop and the need for animal rescue is so high. As soon as a cat leaves we have another one desperately needing to take it's place. In the past 2 weeks we have taken in over 10 cats, and very quickly we have found ourselves down to our last box of litter.
If you would like to donate clumping litter to these beautiful kitties, we'd really appreciate it.

If you would like to donate some you can find it at:
A.J. Pets and Supplies
Pet Valu
Canadian Tire
Sobeys
Evergreen Co-op

Or we have an amazon wish list where if you purchase it ships directly to us.

We're excited to say, they are ready for pick up!!

We can't thank Rocky Charities and Country Garden Greenhouse enough for hosting this fundraiser every year. The donations we get from the plant sale is enough to keep us going through the summer and we're thrilled they think of us every year!

We want to send a HUGE thank you to everyone who donated, shopped, shared our posts, and supported our Spring Garage Sale. Because of this amazing community, the sale was a huge success for the animals!

A special thank to the Legion for generously allowing us to use the space year after year. Your continued support means so much to us and makes events like this possible.

And thank you to Boston Pizza Rocky for donating pizza to help keep our hardworking volunteers feed through the week.

We truly have the best community. Every donation, purchase and helping hand makes a difference for the animals. We couldn't do this without all of you. Thank you for standing behind the ROAR Society time and time again!
