Amazing program the Roar society is running! Get your kitties booked in with us for spay and neuters ! :)

We are running our annual spay and neuter incentive again. In an effort to reduce the number of stray cats in RMH and surrounding area we are offering a cat spay rebate of $90 and a cat neuter rebate of $70 (limit 3 per household) for April 1- May 31.
You will need to pick up an application form starting April 1 from our office and book your cats appointment at your vet like normal. When the procedure is completed, bring us your receipt with your application form and drop it off at the shelter. A cheque will then be made up. We can either have you pick it up from us in the office or we can mail it. All applications and receipt of surgery must be submitted during the program dates April 1-May 31 to qualify. Procedures completed or submitted outside of this time frame are not eligible. Now we have a limited amount of funds for this incentive and will only be giving out forms for the funds we have. As of June 1, any unsubmitted applications will be considered incomplete and the spot will be offered to the next person on the waitlist for the month of June.

Please do not wait if you are wanting to get your cats done. Our office hours to pick up the form Monday-Wednesday 1-5pm Thursday-Friday 1-4pm

Baby season is upon us and is one of our busiest times of the year! Here’s a few reminders to help us help your animals in the most timely manner!

1. If you have a birthing emergency (calving/lambing /kidding) please ensure you have a proper handling facility to contain the momma and be out of the elements for our vets to stay safe and warm. It is very helpful to have power, buckets of warm water , and good lighting ready for their arrival. Ensure your truck and trailer is hooked up and plugged in when It’s cold .

If you do not have facilities, you will be asked to haul your animal into the clinic. We have an excellent setup in clinic for emergencies ! (And Its warm 🙂 ). We can also service more emergencies in clinic as this cuts down on travel time.

2. Call ahead for pickups when possible

3.Please be kind to all staff - we have a wonderful close knit team that works in overdrive under stress for months on end helping a very large radius of clients. Emergencies and appointments are triaged and sometimes vets will be running late, or non emergent appointments will be rescheduled. We appreciate understanding and positivity!

If the vet has not arrived when you expect them, please remember Its not on purpose ! They may be dealing with an unexpected situation ( or many!)

4. Most of all- stay safe out there! Best wishes for a smooth season. 🐮 🐑 🐐

These adorable creatures are abundant in the area - and unfortunately some of our furry friends get too curious about them and get quilled!

If your pet gets porcupine quills embedded in their skin please DO NOT REMOVE THEM ON YOUR OWN. Removal is a very painful process and the kindest thing to do for your pet is to bring them to the clinic for removal under sedation.

Unfortunately we see this far too often when owners try removal on their own and then give up when the pet becomes painful and aggressive- and the quills are breaking off .Quills can migrate through the body and cause more damage if not taken out properly.

When your pet has become painful and stressed before you bring them into the clinic- they become even harder for veterinary staff to treat too!

We are here to help- leave the quills be and come on in! 🙂
