Hey guys I am looking to help find Lola(Frenchton) a perfect forever. Back Story her momma passed away a year ago, and she has been living her best life on the island however due to medical with new owner and surgery coming up she needs me to find her a forever. So read on her and if you know someone she might match with. Located on Vancouver island I will he picking her up soon.
She is 5 almost 6 years old, would be great with a single, or couple. Her current owner says this about her.
She's a sweetheart. Vey much loves affection and cuddling. Loves attention and being close to her person. Pretty much any person lol.
When I first got her, she was very eager to greet everyone and other dogs when out on a walk. My stance on this has always been, no on-leash greetings (and no dog parks) so I worked with her with training for her to be neutral when passing other people and dogs (she used to pull to try to say hi, regardless of whether the other people or dogs wanted to see her or not). She's now great with just passing by and ignoring people and dogs. We have a number of dogs in our neighbourhood who are quite barky behind their fences or on leash at her and she has zero reaction to being barked at and is indifferent to a dog being reactive.
If someone does say hi to her directly when passing (she is cute and this happens a lot), she will try to then tug towards them still. Again, she loves attention and that's not going to change :).
She's great with everyone but she is very easily excited and jumps up. This isn't something I've had any luck in training her out of. She has face slammed more than a few of my friends even though I warn them not to bend down to say hi. She can jump and she's fast - fair warning when she greets people in the house.
Overall, a very calm and chill dog. In the house, she will play for a bit but is happiest napping and snuggled up in blankets. She is quite the chewer and will destroy a toy in minutes if it isn't made specifically for a tough chewer.
She does match energy and if I'm excited and really active out on the trails for a hike, she will be too, but once back home, she just wants to snooze.
She doesn't whine, but will stare at you when you're eating but she's never tried to grab food - even when I've left my plate unattended. She's super food motivated and will eat anything off the ground outside as well.
She loves veggies (but not spinach, she will spit that out).
She rarely barks. I've only heard her bark a handful of times and they were all when she was startled by something (dogs coming around a corner at a run on a trail for example, or one of my neighbours yanking open the hallway door all of a sudden). She is really not a barker. My neighbour met her for the first time about 6 months after I got her and he commented that he had no idea that I had a dog because he had never heard her. She's quiet.
Zero separation anxiety issues. She is great to be left alone and just naps when I'm out. I have a camera on her and check her and she literally just changes sleeping positions or gets up for a drink and then goes back to napping.
She's great in the car. Loves car rides and after a few minutes of checking out the view she just settles in for a snooze.
She has loved all the camping trips we've done last summer and she slept well in the tent (she didn't even wake up when an elk came crashing through the site in the middle of the night).
She does like water and will go into water when we are at the beach or lake. She can kind of swim (she fell in off of a log once and did manage to swim her way back to it while I was about to jump in) but she will only really go in up to her chest and then wade around.
Overall, really healthy. She's needs ears cleaned regularly so yeast doesn't grow.
Never had any potty accidents in the house and will go to the door when she wants out. She's also a champion sleeper at night and she stays sleeping usually an hour or so even after I get up in the mornings. She does sleep with me in the bed and prefers to be under the comforter. Barely ever snores.
She does like to chase cats, squirrels and birds.
