We are excited to officially congratulate Dr. Katie Timms on graduating from the WCVM Class of 2026! 🎓🐾

Many of our clients have already had the opportunity to meet Katie during her placements with us, and we are thrilled to share that she will be joining Hart Family Veterinary Clinic as a full-time DVM starting June 15.

Katie brings a wonderful combination of compassion, enthusiasm, and dedication to patient care, and we are so excited to welcome her to the Hart Family team.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Timms on this incredible accomplishment and wishing her the very best as she begins her veterinary career right here in Prince George!

Congratulations, Katie! We can’t wait to see all that you’ll accomplish. 💙🐶🐱

Guess who turned 1 today?!?

This little devil spends a lot of days at work with us still. So she got everyone Starbucks as a thank you on her birthday for walking her, feeding her, putting up with her…😂

Who else feels like they’ve really accomplished something by making it to 1 year with their new dog ?!? I know it can be hard, but they’re certainly still worth all of the effort!
Happy birthday Norma- we did it! 🎂

Bates and Norma had a coffee date today at Jack's Coffee Co.
They got some pets on the patio, pup cups that were not only whipping cream but with little tasty treats on top, and their mom had a delicious Oreo cookie Sammy (for Sammi!)
The Sammy even matched Bates’ colours 🥰
I only found out today this local business is open Sundays, and what a great way to enjoy a coffee, while supporting local. ☕️

Full disclosure- I am copying this idea because it is super cute! 🥰

What would your pet’s cover photo be if they were on a Dating App?!? And one line to describe them.

Norma- I like dirt and am looking for someone to roll around in the mud with me.

Bates- I like afternoon naps in the sun; preferably on high quality sheets and mattresses as I am bougie that way.

Share your pet’s ’cover photo’. Bonus points if they are holding a fish 🫢

It’s Veterinary Reception Week 💚

You see a smiling face at the front desk.
We see… absolute chaos management.

Fern & Ella are:
• answering phones while talking to you while checking someone in (yes, all at once)
• translating “he’s just not himself” into something medically useful
• finding appointment spots that technically do not exist
• keeping the day on track when everything is running late (including us sometimes)
• handling emotional, stressful, and sometimes really hard conversations with kindness
• remembering your pet’s name, your last visit, and probably your phone number

They are the first hello, the last goodbye, and the glue holding our entire day together.

So if you’ve ever called, emailed, walked in, or panic-booked an appointment… chances are they made it happen.

Drop Fern & Ella some love below ⬇️
They deserve it more than you know!

Update on Cheese 🧀 & Ham 🥓…

WE HAVE LIFTOFF 🚀

After taking it slow and building positive associations, they’re now confidently using their wheel 🙌

This is what good enrichment introduction looks like:
✨ Start with curiosity
✨ Pair with rewards
✨ Let them choose

No forcing. No stress. Just confidence building over time.

Where am I right now?!?
I’m on vacation (yay!) enjoying 2 weeks in Europe. Perhaps someone can guess which country I’m in based on these photos- I love to take photos of pets in other countries while vacationing. 🥰

See if you can spot the beautiful dogs and cats, and guess where they may be 😉

New enrichment project at HFVC 👀

Ella is training her cats to use a wheel and we’re OBSESSED.
(Also yes… their names are Cheese 🧀 and Ham 🥓 😂)

This is a great example of how to introduce new enrichment:
✔️ Positive associations
✔️ Letting them explore at their own pace
✔️ No pressure

Stay tuned to see how this goes…

Although Norma, Bates and all the staff dogs have a pretty good clinic life, sometimes they have to work just like the rest of us.
Here is Bates, sedated, and donating blood for another dog in need last week.

If you are interested in allowing your dog to donate blood please let us know (message below or with the clinic directly)- we often need dogs that are large (>30 kg), healthy between 1-7 years of age, not on any medications, and up to date on vaccines, to help save lives.

Fun fact: dogs have two blood types called DEA negative and DEA positive. DEA negative are considered universal donors- Norma is DEA negative, Bates is DEA positive.

One more reason why everyone should have a large, or extra large, dog in their lives! 🥰
