We recently saw 9-year-old Tsuga (Pronounced Sue-gah), a Labrador Retriever for his routine wellness exam and vaccines. He seemed healthy and had no obvious signs of illness.

But during his physical exam, we felt a firm mass in his abdomen. An ultrasound confirmed the mass was in his spleen, and we performed surgery to remove the spleen. Thankfully, the mass came back benign after testing. This could've gone a very different way. Splenic masses can rupture suddenly, causing internal bleeding and critical illness. In many cases, pets show no symptoms until it's too late.

Because he came in for his annual checkup, we caught it early and avoided a potentially life-threatening emergency.

Moral of the story: Don't skip your pet's annual wellness visit. Even if they seem perfectly fine, early detection can truly be life-saving.

Call us today to schedule your pet's exam!
