Can you handle Charlene’s heat 🔥

Charlene arrived to Retired Queen’s Rescue needing some TLC, vetting and lots of ear cleaning! Through healthy p**p 💩 and lots of conversation she has expressed she feels good about starting to find her forever family.

Charlene is 6 years old, spayed, spunky, food-driven (special BIOME diet for now), cuddly and needs a home WITHOUT DOGS or many other cats. She is a mere six pounds but fierce. Charlene likes to spend her day trotting around the house looking for sun and snacks. She is fond of sitting awkwardly on her human’s knee. She also loves to interrupt personal space to say I LOVE YOU with head butts. She loves high places and will perch like a gargoyle and observe the action below. Just look up if you can’t find her.

Essentials
Charlene needs consistency with her diet. She will go home with a case of her current food to help kickstart her meals.

Charlene needs someone to love the heck out of her and let her weasel her way into their heart. It will happen quickly, she is a sphynx after all! She has been moved around and needs to land permanently. She is incredible.

Coraline is ready to roll into your home. This 7 year old girl is looking for a chill family committed to helping her continue her weight loss journey. As you can see she is very loveable.

Coraline 💕
I want to formally introduce this special girl who rolled her way into my heart and home. Coraline is a very easy cat. She is dedicated to speed-walking for her meals, wapping wands and belly rubs.

She is human-centered. This girl loves company. A quiet cat (not a wild sphynx or rambunctious kitten) would be more suited for her in her forever home. That or a house full of humans ready to help her continue her healthy weight journey.

She is approximately 7 years young and is finally ready to land in the right place for the rest of her life. There is so much more to say about her!

A warm welcome to Charlene. The city girl who can finally unpack her bags and embrace quiet small town life. She is a six year old dream. Right now we are working on her wellness plan. There are still lots of questions. Please send good healing vibes to this gentle girl.

This is Quartz. He is a Babydoll sheep and one of the OG residents of Promised Land. He has been here long enough to watch animals come and go, friendships form, seasons change and all of us get a little grayer.

And he remembers.

Research has shown that sheep can recognize at least 50 individual sheep faces and remember them for more than two years. They can recognize familiar human faces too. Sheep aren’t anonymous members of a flock. They know one another. They remember one another. They form relationships. They have histories.

Quartz is getting old now. Getting old is a privilege for people. For farmed animals, it is much more rare. Most will never know old age. They will never get the chance to slow down, nap in a beam of sunlight or spend years surrounded by familiar faces. Quartz did. And when I look at him sitting there in the sun, I don’t see an old sheep. I see a life that was allowed to keep going.

May every wrinkle, every stiff joint and every gray hair be a tiny act of rebellion against a world that never expected him to make it this far. What a privilege it is to grow old. What an extraordinary privilege it is to watch them do it.
