🐝 Bee Stings & Your Pets: What Every Pet Parent Should Know 🐶🐱
Warmer weather means more outdoor adventures — and more encounters with bees. Most bee stings are mild, but some can become serious very quickly.
Common signs of a bee sting in pets:
• Sudden yelping or pawing at the face
• Swelling around the mouth, face, or paw
• Redness or hives
• Limping
• Excessive licking at the sting site
⚠️ Seek emergency veterinary care immediately if you notice:
• Difficulty breathing
• Severe facial swelling
• Vomiting or collapse
• Weakness or pale gums
• Multiple stings
What to do if your pet is stung:
✔️ Stay calm and keep your pet quiet
✔️ Apply a cool compress to help reduce swelling
✔️ Call your veterinarian for advice before giving any medications
Prevention tip: Keep pets away from flowering bushes, garbage bins, and areas where bees or wasps gather.
If you’re concerned your pet may be having an allergic reaction, contact your veterinary team right away. Early treatment can make all the difference. 💛
