Meet “Nellie”. Or as I call her “Nellers”. She is looking for a new home!

I did one lesson on sheep, and another session to assess her.

Likes sheep, but fairly low drive. If you want a dog for casual herding, she would fit the bill.

This is what I call a true companion dog. Low-medium energy, very social with people, friendly-neutral with dogs.

Very stable temperament. She’s tad stubborn, and independent. The “I’ve got better things to do” kind of dog 😂

She does have some reactivity on leash. But after assessing it, and putting her in different situations, it was determined that she just finds joy in barking/lunging at dogs 😂🤘I will be addressing this with more training, and will fix this issue fairly quickly.

To note: She was off leash, and on leash with my personal dogs. She was polite, showed appropriate social behaviour, and afterwards just wanted to do her own thing.

Overall, super nice dog. She reminds me of my first dog, Roo ❤️

I’m not in charge of rehoming her, but if you want to ask me questions, feel free.

Beware the “Talking Trainer”.

There is a trend in the dog training world, one that I loathe entirely, and that is the “talking trainer.”

What is a talking trainer? It’s a trainer, in any dog training discipline, that talks a big game but has no evidence to back it up.

Not a single video to be seen. No results. Not even a single crumb of them training a dog in real time.

And to be clear, I don’t mean a heavily edited video with happy music and a “kumbaya”. I want the before, the middle, and the end. The good, the bad, and the ugly.

The “talking trainer” is more common in the pet training world but can be found in any sport discipline.

Now, you may be asking yourself, “Kylee, why so mad?”

There are a few reasons:

1. Taking advantage of uneducated people desperate for help.

2. Becoming a self-righteous authority in their field.

3. These “trainers” hide behind words rather than showing their methods in real life.

To clarify, there are a lot of amazing trainers who don’t post much of their training on social media. This may sound contrary to my previous statements, but these trainers aren’t trying to manipulate public opinion, become internet famous, or obtain financial gain.

“Talking trainers” are usually trying to sell you something, whether it’s a program, a book, or an ideology.

But when questioned or asked to show results of their theory, the response is usually volatile. They rebut with all their certifications or peer-reviewed papers.

They’ll write you a fu***ng novel about how they are right and you are wrong. But at the end of the day, there’s still no video evidence.

Arguing about who is right or wrong is futile. No one reading this has ever won an argument on social media with someone holding a different ideology. But results speak for themselves. And to be honest, some of the most opinionated trainers out there have very little to show in that regard.

With that, I say…

The age of talking is over; the time of results has come.
