🐾 Meet Our New Arrivals! 🐾

We're excited to introduce two special girls who joined our rescue family this week from Hamilton Animal Services:

MYRTLE 💕
This sweet 15-year-old Yorkie was found as a stray, but don't let her age fool you - she's got plenty of life left in her! Despite being matted and neglected, Myrtle is proving to be remarkably healthy and resilient. She's already settling into the good life with cozy beds and tasty treats. She'll need some dental work and has a few minor health issues, but this little lady will soon be ready to show a loving family what senior dog magic looks like! ✨

SCARLETT 🌟
Meet our brilliant 1-year-old Cockapoo who's been through quite the transformation! This beautiful girl was nervous and shut down at the shelter, but in foster care, her true personality is shining through. She's incredibly smart (sometimes TOO smart!) and is learning that the world can be a wonderful place when you're surrounded by love and patience.

🚨 We are not yet accepting applications for these two as they complete their medical care and evaluations, but stay tuned! Both girls deserve nothing but the best, and we're committed to finding them perfect forever homes.

Clover / F / 4 months / Shih Tzu Terrier mix / 8lbs / Fostered in Owen Sound

Clover is a remarkable dog whose spirit shines brighter than ever, even after overcoming incredible adversity. This courageous girl survived a tragic accident - her sister and her were hit by a car. Her sister unfortunately passed away in front of her and she suffered a broken leg, which needed to be amputated, but her resilience and zest for life are truly inspiring. Don't let her missing leg fool you – Clover is a silly, playful, and affectionate companion who's ready to bring joy to the right family. Having one less leg doesn't slow her down!

Clover's favourite activities include snuggling up for cuddles and playing with her toys. She has a medium energy level and enjoys short walks as she continues to build confidence on her leash, plus plenty of backyard adventures. While she's still learning basic commands and how to communicate her potty needs, she's making great progress with house training through frequent outdoor trips.

This sweet girl is incredibly cuddly and affectionate, with a silly personality that will keep you smiling. She's crate trained and can be left alone for up to 5 hours without any separation anxiety. Clover is wonderful with dogs and children 8 and older, though she can be shy when meeting new people initially. Once she warms up, she'll come over to say hello and share her gentle nature.

Clover would thrive in a home where someone is around often or can bring her along on daily adventures. Her ideal family would have limited stairs and another dog companion to keep her company. She's looking for patient adopters who understand that new situations can be overwhelming for her, but who will help her build confidence at her own pace.
While Clover hasn't been tested with cats, her gentle nature suggests she would likely do well with proper introduction. She's recovering beautifully from her amputation and is ready for a loving home where she can continue to heal and flourish.

It is a requirement of her adoption that adopters will take her to be spayed at one of our partner clinics in either Owen Sound or Mississauga when she is 6 months of age (cost will be covered by the rescue).

If you are interested in adopting Clover, please complete an adoption application on our website.

Summer / F / 3Y / 10lbs / Maltese mix / Fostered in Toronto

Summer is a joyful, affectionate little soul who believes the best place in the world is curled up on your lap. This loving girl has the most trusting nature and sweetest disposition - she's truly a dream dog who's eager to please and ready to be the perfect addition to your home.

Summer is the definition of a cuddle bug. You'll never find her on the opposite side of the couch - her favorite spot is right beside her person, soaking up all the love and affection she can get. She's incredibly adaptable and easy-going, with a low energy level that makes her the ideal companion for cozy mornings and relaxed evenings.

After meals, Summer gets adorably rambunctious with little zoomies and playful sessions with her plushie, but she's equally content to take long naps and enjoy slow mornings. She loves doing the cutest little high-five motion when she jumps up after a nap, and her downward dog stretches will melt your heart.

Summer is a training success story - she's fully crate trained, potty trained, and fantastic on a leash. She's great about letting you know when she needs to go outside (about 5 times a day) and will go to the door when nature calls. She takes two short 15-minute walks daily, though she's happy to join you for longer adventures when you're up for it.

Summer would thrive with someone who has time to give her the attention she craves. She'd be happiest with a person who's home most of the time or able to bring her along (she's fantastic in the car!). While she can handle being left alone for short periods in her crate, she does experience some separation anxiety and truly loves being with her people.

She's great with dogs but would probably prefer being an only dog or sharing space with a very friendly, laid-back companion. Summer shows interest in children but would do best with older kids given her size. She can be a bit hesitant when meeting new people but is always curious and interested in saying hello. She has some mild tartar and will likely need a dental cleaning in the next ,1-2 years.

Summer's eagerness for physical affection is unmatched - she's the most affectionate dog you'll ever meet and would make an incredible companion for someone looking for a tiny shadow who just wants to love and be loved. Her trusting nature, sweet temperament, and adaptability make her suitable for any type of dwelling and perfect for any experience level.

If you are interested in adopting Summer, please complete an adoption application on our website.

Little Lady / F / 11 months / 10lbs / Chihuahua / Fostered in Toronto

Little Lady is a sunshine-loving sweetheart who believes the best place in the world is right by your side! This affectionate little lady has mastered the art of being the perfect companion - whether you're cooking dinner (she'll be your faithful sous chef by your heel), binge-watching movies (prepare for premium couch snuggles), or enjoying the great outdoors (she's your adventure buddy).

Little Lady's superpower is her boundless love for her people. She doesn't have a mean bone in her body and approaches life with curiosity and joy. Watch her chase flies in the backyard, dig the perfect nest in blankets, or get adorably excited when she spots her leash - this girl finds happiness in life's simple pleasures.

Little Lady dreams of a home with:
- 2+ people (she believes more humans = more love!)
- A backyard for her essential zoomies and sunbathing sessions
- Someone who loves daily walks
- A patient, understanding family who can help her build confidence when alone
- Work-from-home lifestyle or access to doggy daycare/dog walker services

This smart cookie is food-motivated and has nearly mastered: sit, stay, come, down, place, leave it, and "go pee/poo" commands. She's house-trained, walks beautifully on leash, and is working on crate training and building independence. She experiences separation anxiety and thrives with families who can provide consistent companionship or arrange care when away. She is great with adults and kids 12+. She would love to have another small dog in the home. She has not been cat tested but would likely be fine.

If you are interested in adopting Little Lady, please complete an adoption application on our website.

Update: Adopted!

Plum / F / 1Y / 12lbs / Shih Tzu mix / Fostered in Port Elgin

Plum is the perfect combination of silly, cuddly, and calm. This adorable girl has an enormous heart and her absolute favourite thing in the world is being with her people. Whether she's snuggled up on the couch, following you around the house, or curled up nearby, she's happiest when she's included in family life. She's also got a playful side that will make you smile—she loves a good game of fetch and gets the most adorable case of the zoomies when she's excited!

She's steadily gaining confidence and truly lights up around her humans. She's not overly vocal except when meeting someone new or encountering other dogs on walks (she likes to announce herself!). Her gentle, sweet spirit and total love of people make her an absolute joy to be around.

Plum is a quick learner who's already making great progress:
- Crate trained - She sees her crate as her safe space and often goes in on her own for naps
- House training - Making excellent progress with frequent potty breaks
- Basic commands - Already responding well to her name and learning "sit" and "come"
- Leash manners - Working on improvement, manageable and getting better as her confidence grows

Plum does well when left alone for a few hours at a time with no signs of separation anxiety. She's content to settle into her dog bed or crate when her family steps out. She's adaptable to different exercise levels—a couple of walks a day keeps her happy, and she settles beautifully afterward.

Kids: Great with children! She's made her foster family's kids laugh endlessly with her goofy ways.

Dogs: Needs slow, patient introductions as she's not overly confident yet and can be reactive at first. With time and trust, she settles in beautifully and is already learning to play—she just needs a gentle approach and reassurance.

People: She may bark initially when meeting new people, then happily climbs into their lap for snuggles. She warms up quickly and really enjoys attention.

Plum would thrive in a loving home where she's part of the family. She needs a nurturing environment with both affection and gentle structure. Her ideal home would have patient adopters who understand she needs time to warm up to new pets, and bonus points if there are kids or someone home during the day!

If you are interested in adopting Plum, please complete an adoption application on our website.

Update: Peggy has been a very popular little girl! We have now closed applications for her.

Peggy / F / 5Y / 5lbs / Chihuahua / Fostered in Toronto

Looking for a gentle, low-maintenance companion who will melt your heart? Meet Peggy, a sweet and calm little soul with the most adorable "smol face mouse" expression that will win you over instantly.

Peggy is a cuddly, shy, and wonderfully calm dog who thrives on affection and quiet moments. She is a tripod (missing a hide leg) but this doesn't slow her down one bit. She's the perfect companion for someone seeking a relaxed, low-energy friend who's happiest curled up beside you.

- House-trained and crate-trained for overnight and up to 6 hours during the day
- Excellent leash manners (though she prefers shorter walks)
- Great with dogs and children - she's hasn't been cat tested but would likely be fine
- No guarding issues - she's as gentle as they come
- Low energy but still enjoys 3-4 short walks and a little playtime each day

Loves: Cuddles (her absolute favorite!), treats, and quiet companionship
Not a fan of: Water, stairs, and loud noises like fireworks

Peggy is already well-behaved and continues to work on fun tricks and recall training. She may have slight separation anxiety, but it's very manageable and responds well to training. When meeting new people, she's initially shy but warms up beautifully once she feels comfortable.

Peggy would thrive in a calm, low-energy household where she can be the center of attention. Her perfect family would:
- Love giving lots of cuddles and gentle affection
- Have a single-story home or minimal stairs
- Appreciate a quieter lifestyle
- Be patient with her initial shyness around new people

If you're looking for a loyal, loving companion who will be your shadow and snuggle buddy, Peggy might be your perfect match. She's ready to bring her gentle, sweet nature into a loving forever home where she can feel safe and cherished.

If you are interested in adopting Peggy, please complete an application on our website.

Brooklyn is the perfect blend of playful puppy energy and relaxed companion. She's incredibly smart for her age and has a naturally calm demeanor that makes her easy to care for. This sweet girl loves nothing more than cuddles and is always ready to show affection to her favorite humans.

Brooklyn's favourite things:

- Playing with her toys and chewing on appropriate chewies
- Socializing and playing with other dogs

Update: Adopted!

Joe (aka Joe Jonas) / M / 3Y / 5lbs / Chihuahua mix / Fostered in Owen Sound

Joe is a tiny treasure who believes the best seat in the house is your lap! This 5-pound cuddle bug is looking for a special someone who appreciates the finer things in life - like leisurely afternoons in the yard, cozy nights on the bed, and the art of being perfectly portable.

Joe has mastered the art of selective enthusiasm. While other dogs might drag you down the street on walks, Joe has a different philosophy: "Why walk when you can be carried?" He'll simply sit and give you that look that says, "Aren't you going to pick me up?" It's hard to argue with that logic!

This charming little character has his own unique way of communicating. He'll greet visitors with a cautious bark from a safe distance, and he has the most adorable howl that he reserves for special occasions - like sirens or particularly exciting household moments. He will warm up to new people but needs some time.

Joe's ideal day involves plenty of lap time, some supervised yard adventures with canine friends, and being your constant companion. His fosters describe him as low energy. He's house-trained and sleeps through the night like a dream (preferably on your bed). He's working on basic commands and is highly motivated by treats - a smart cookie who knows what he wants!

Joe would thrive in a quiet, relaxed home where he can be someone's devoted four-legged shadow. He's perfect for someone who works from home or is often around, as he hasn't had to experience being alone yet. He appreciates a calm environment and would do best with gentle dogs and children 8+. He hasn't met any cats yet but we think he would be fine.

If you're looking for a hiking buddy, Joe isn't your guy. But if you want a loyal companion who will happily spend his days in your lap, follow you around the house, and provide endless cuddles, then Joe might just be your perfect match. He's not just a dog - he's a lifestyle of cozy companionship.

If you are interested in adopting Joe, please complete an application on our website.
