New research found that dogs can detect stress in humans just by scent, even without seeing or hearing them. Changes in human body odor during stressful moments were enough for dogs to recognize something was wrong.
The findings help explain dogs’ emotional sensitivity and could shape future training for service and therapy dogs that support people under stress.
