🔥🚨 Heat Wave Alert for Your Pets! 🚨🔥
Hey, Oromocto pet parents! Our furry family members feel the heat too—and heatwaves can be dangerous. As your trusted Oromocto Vet Hospital, we're here with essential tips to keep your pets safe and cool! 🐶🐱
🌡️ Top Tips & Tricks
💧 Hydration is everything!
Offer constant access to cool, fresh water. Add ice cubes or even low‑sodium broth ice cubes for a fun twist
☂️ Shade & cool zones
Set up shady spaces—trees, umbrellas, pop‑up tents—and add fans or cooling mats
🏃♂️ Adjust exercise times
Walk only in the early morning or late evening. Pavement can burn paws fast—if it's too hot for your hand, it's too hot for theirs🐾
🧊 DIY cooling hacks
Freeze a towel or DIY cooling pet mat
Use ice‑filled toys or treat‑stuffed popsicles
Offer wading pools for splash time
🌞 Sun protection & coat care
Light or thin‑coated pets need pet‑safe sunscreen on ears, nose, and belly. Regular brushing helps air circulate—skip shaving full coats!
🚗 No cars—even cracked windows?
Never leave pets in parked cars—temperatures can skyrocket in minutes
⚠️ Watch for Heatstroke Symptoms ⚠️
Panting heavily, drooling, red gums, weakness, vomiting, collapse—chances are it's serious. Cool them with lukewarm water (not icy), wet towels, and head to us immediately. Pets with flat faces, thick coats, or certain health conditions are especially at risk.
Stay cool, stay safe, and keep those tails wagging! 🐾
