🐾💜 PAIN AWARENESS MONTH 💜🐾

🎩🐶 Hi friends! It’s Colby the Dapper Dog!

I may look handsome enough to be on the cover of a magazine, but even us fancy pups can experience pain! 🐶✨

Sometimes pain can be hard to spot, so keep an eye out for signs like:

🐾 Moving slower than usual
🛏️ Sleeping more or avoiding favourite activities
🪜 Having trouble with stairs or jumping
😕 Acting grumpy, withdrawn, or just “not themselves”

And remember, friends… getting older doesn’t mean we have to live with pain! ❤️‍🩹

If you notice changes in your pet’s behaviour or mobility, let your veterinary team know. A little extra attention can make a BIG difference in helping us feel comfortable and happy! 🥰🐾

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have some important dapper dog duties to attend to… like napping and supervising the treat cabinet. 🎩😴🦴

Here are 3 ways to keep your furry friends safe this month:

🏡 1. Hide the Dangerous Stuff!
Medications, cleaning supplies, toxic foods, and tiny things that look totally chewable should stay out of reach. 😼🚫
Trust me… I WILL investigate. 🔍🐾

🍂 2. Be Careful Outside!
Ticks, mushrooms, strange plants, and other outdoor surprises are NOT snacks. 🌿🕷️🤢
Yes, I’m talking to you, fellow grass-eaters. 😂

🩺 3. Keep Up With Your Vet Visits!
Vaccines, parasite prevention, and wellness checks help keep us feeling our best! 💉❤️
And yes, I know the carrier is scary… but treats afterward make it worth it. 😻🍗

Our veterinary team is taking a little time to recharge, relax, and hopefully enjoy a weekend without anyone asking, “Can you just take a quick look at this?” 😂👀🐶

🏥 WE WILL BE CLOSED MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 7TH FOR LABOUR DAY! 🇨🇦

While you’re enjoying the long weekend, remember that our pets don’t always understand the concept of “holiday rules”! 😂🐕🐈 Here are a few quick safety reminders:

🍔🔥 BBQ & picnic safety: Keep fatty foods, bones, corn cobs, and scraps away from curious noses!

🍫🍇 Watch the snacks: Chocolate, grapes/raisins, onions, garlic, and xylitol can be dangerous for pets.

🌡️🐾 Protect those paws: Check hot pavement before heading out. If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws!

💦🏊 Water safety: Keep a close eye on pets around pools, lakes, and rivers, and make sure they have plenty of fresh drinking water.

🦟🕷️ Parasite prevention: Fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes don’t take holidays! Make sure your pet’s preventatives are up to date.

🌭🐕 Keep an eye on the grill: Your dog may insist they are the official BBQ cleanup crew… but we promise they are NOT. 😂

🚨 If your pet has a true emergency while we are closed, please seek care at your nearest emergency veterinary hospital.

Today, we’re celebrating the orange, the fluffy, the fabulous… and the slightly chaotic. 😹

Meet Archie — our resident ginger gentleman, professional snack inspector, and part-time veterinary hospital supervisor. 🩺👑

Archie would like to remind everyone that ginger cats are:

🍊 100% convinced they own the place

He also strongly recommends regular checkups, plenty of treats, and absolutely NO discussions about his weight. 😂

🐾 MEET WILLIE! 🐾

This handsome little guy, Willie, came to us from the Oromocto SPCA and had to have his eye removed. 👁️💙 But don’t let that fool you—Willie has decided that having one less eye is absolutely NO reason to have one less cuddle! 😻

While he’s recovering, he has been assigned to our very professional RVT Shaye, whose official job title is now apparently Professional Kitten Cuddler & Willie’s Personal Pillow. 😂🩺💕

Willie’s treatment plan includes:
💊 Medications
🛏️ Lots of rest
🐱 Excessive amounts of cuddling
😽 Being told how handsome he is approximately 47 times per day
💤 And, of course, plenty of naps on Shaye

We’re so happy to see this sweet boy getting the care he deserves, and we’re pretty sure Shaye is very committed to his recovery plan. 😉

Blindness doesn’t mean a dog can’t have a happy, playful, and fulfilling life! With a little patience, some extra safety precautions, and lots of love, our four-legged friends can adapt incredibly well. 🏡🐾

👃 Their noses help them navigate the world.
👂 Their ears become their extra set of eyes.
❤️ And their humans become their trusted guides.
