🔥🚨 Heat Wave Alert for Your Pets! 🚨🔥
Hey, Oromocto pet parents! Our furry family members feel the heat too—and heatwaves can be dangerous. As your trusted Oromocto Vet Hospital, we're here with essential tips to keep your pets safe and cool! 🐶🐱

🌡️ Top Tips & Tricks
💧 Hydration is everything!
Offer constant access to cool, fresh water. Add ice cubes or even low‑sodium broth ice cubes for a fun twist

☂️ Shade & cool zones
Set up shady spaces—trees, umbrellas, pop‑up tents—and add fans or cooling mats

🏃‍♂️ Adjust exercise times
Walk only in the early morning or late evening. Pavement can burn paws fast—if it's too hot for your hand, it's too hot for theirs🐾

🧊 DIY cooling hacks
Freeze a towel or DIY cooling pet mat
Use ice‑filled toys or treat‑stuffed popsicles
Offer wading pools for splash time

🌞 Sun protection & coat care
Light or thin‑coated pets need pet‑safe sunscreen on ears, nose, and belly. Regular brushing helps air circulate—skip shaving full coats!

🚗 No cars—even cracked windows?
Never leave pets in parked cars—temperatures can skyrocket in minutes

⚠️ Watch for Heatstroke Symptoms ⚠️
Panting heavily, drooling, red gums, weakness, vomiting, collapse—chances are it's serious. Cool them with lukewarm water (not icy), wet towels, and head to us immediately. Pets with flat faces, thick coats, or certain health conditions are especially at risk.

Stay cool, stay safe, and keep those tails wagging! 🐾

Senior pet super star🎖 Lexi came to see us for some routine bloodwork today. Bloodwork is important for cats because it helps diagnose and treat a variety of health conditions. 🐾
1)It establishes baseline health, checks for congenital abnormalities, and helps form an individual wellness plan
2) Blood work can detect problems like kidney disease, diabetes, and thyroid issues early on 💉🩺
3) It also monitors illness and ensures effective medication tolerance💊
4) Annual bloodwork provides valuable insights into a cat's overall well-being. 😍

At the young age of almost 18 Lexi is young at heart, in spirit and is still adventurous. Be like Lexi, come in and see us for your wellness bloodwork today!

🌿🐾 Springtime Adventures Await! ☀️🐶

The sunshine is calling, and it’s time to enjoy the great outdoors with your furry friend! 🌳🏞️ Whether you’re hiking, walking, or playing in the yard, keep these safety tips in mind:

✅ Leash Up! 🦮 Keep your pup on a leash to prevent unexpected wildlife encounters or wandering into dangerous areas.

✅ Parasite Protection! 🦟 Fleas, ticks, and heartworms are more active in warm weather—make sure your pet is protected!

✅ Hydration is Key! 💧 Always bring fresh water to keep your pet cool and hydrated.

✅ Paw Check! 🐾 Hot pavement, sharp rocks, or hidden thorns can hurt sensitive paws—inspect them after every outing.

🌞🐕 Enjoy the season safely and make the most of your springtime adventures! 🌼🏕️

🌞Keep Your Pets Cool and Safe This Spring! 🌞

As the temperatures rise, it's essential to ensure our furry friends stay comfortable and protected.

Here are some expert tips to help your pets beat the heat:

🐾 Hydration is Key
Always provide fresh, cool water for your pets. Consider adding ice cubes to their water bowls to keep it chilled longer. Dehydration can lead to serious health issues, so ensure they're drinking enough, especially after playtime or walks.

🌳 Seek Shade and Avoid Hot Surfaces
Hot pavement can burn your pet's paws. If it's too hot for your hand, it's too hot for their paws. Walk them during cooler parts of the day—early morning or late evening—and always provide shaded areas for rest.

🌞 Protect from the Sun
Pets with light-colored fur or exposed skin are at risk of sunburn. Use pet-safe sunscreen on areas like the nose and ears, and limit sun exposure during peak hours (11 AM - 3 PM).

🚗 Never Leave Pets in Cars
Even with the windows cracked, temperatures inside a car can rise rapidly, leading to heatstroke. Always take your pet with you or leave them at home.

🐕 Watch for Heatstroke Signs
Excessive panting, drooling, restlessness, or vomiting are signs of heatstroke. If you notice these symptoms, move your pet to a cooler area, offer water, and contact your veterinarian immediately.

At Oromocto Veterinary Hospital, we're here to support you and your pets. If you have concerns or need advice on keeping your pet safe this season, don't hesitate to reach out.

Stay cool and keep your pets safe! 🐾💙
