As you enjoy the long weekend, remember that fireworks can be very stressful and frightening for pets. Loud noises and bright flashes may cause anxiety, escaping behaviours, or injury.

🦔 It’s That Time of Year Again! 🐾
Porcupines are becoming more active, and unfortunately that means we’re starting to see dogs coming in with quills.
Curious pups love to investigate strange smells and slow-moving wildlife, but one close encounter with a porcupine can quickly turn into a painful (and costly) emergency. Quills can embed deeply, migrate, and cause serious complications if not removed properly.
🚫 If your dog has been quilled:

Do not attempt to remove quills at home
Keep your pet as calm as possible
Contact your veterinary clinic right away

👀 Prevention tips:

Keep dogs on leash, especially at dawn and dusk
Use a flashlight in wooded or rural areas at night
Be mindful during walks, hikes, and backyard time

Staying aware can help keep your pets safe this season. If you have questions or concerns, we’re always here to help 💙🐕
