My heart is just so gosh darn full! ❤️🤩
This weekend, there was a Pet Grooming Seminar in Saskatoon that was hosted by some of my most favouritest people in the whole entire world. Getting to see all of my dog grooming family again after such a long time was the absolute best thing ever; they are truly some of the most talented, kindest, encouraging and supportive group of people I have ever met.
While there, I also participated in the ‘Mock’ Dog Grooming Competition to both dip my toes back into the world of competing in a more relaxed setting and also to get ready for a huge actual Grooming Competition that I am signed up for in Calgary this July called Mastergroom. This was a really huge step for me, as it has been exactly 10 years since the last time I felt up to grooming a dog in this type of setting. I did do a few online comps during the pandemic, but the stakes/nerves can definitely be much higher at in-person events (but also super exciting!).
One of my very regular clients, ever so graciously let me borrow their dog for the weekend and he was just the bestest boy I could have asked for! He definitely could have used more hair as he was recently shaved a couple months ago, but I didn’t really care too much about that this time. Also, normally at these types of events, the dogs are bathed & dried the early morning hours of the event, but this time they had to be prepped the night before. Because of that, his coat wasn’t quite as fresh as I normally would have liked but my OCD eventually learned to cope lol. I ended up getting some really encouraging and supportive feedback on the his haircut from my really incredibly talented friends and honestly just had the most relaxed, positive experience ever!
It has taken me a very ‘full of ups and downs’ 10 years to finally feel confident and ready to get back into this huge passion of mine again. Can’t even put into words how great it feels to say that! Just need to say thanks to everyone who encouraged me this weekend - you don’t even know what a huge impact it had on me!
Love you all, xoxo. ❤️
