❣Heart Health❣
Just like people, pets can develop heart conditions as they age, and many heart issues can progress quietly before we notice that our pets are unwell. Changes such as coughing, getting easily tired, breathing changes or fainting can sometimes be symptoms of heart disease.

One of the most effective ways to monitor heart health over time is a cardiac ultrasound (also referred to as echocardiogram). This painless, non-invasive test allows us to see the heart’s structure and function in real time, helping detect problems early and track changes year after year.

Early monitoring can lead to better management, improved comfort, and a longer, healthier life for your pet. If you have concerns about your pet’s heart or have been advised to monitor it regularly, our team is happy to help guide you through the next steps

Our pets definitely make ours lives more fun! One of our clients shared a story about her cat Sage:
"My sweet girl Sage loved to "hide" in the sheers. It always made me laugh when I'd walk into the room and see this cat shape in the sheers with just her toes peeking out. She also liked to use the sheers as her "bird blind". She was a professional level bird watcher, especially when she used her blind. She would chirp away at them knowing she was hidden from their sight yet she could see them!"

Regular grooming is more than just keeping your pet looking good (although we love the pictures of your pet after a new haircut!). It plays a key role in their hygiene, comfort and overall wellbeing. Delayed grooming can lead to matting, skin infections and hidden parasites especially during warmer months.

There are a few things you can do at home to help your pet look their best:
🐾Brush regularly to prevent mats and remove loose hair
🐾Check ears, skin, and paws for redness, sores, or debris
🐾Trim nails as needed to prevent pain and posture issues
🐾Bathe with pet-safe products when appropriate

Routine grooming also helps you spot problems early. If your pet is difficult to groom, has heavy matting, or seems uncomfortable, our team can guide you on safe options and next steps.

🐾Warm Weather and Parasite Season 🐾
As temperatures rise, so does the risk of parasites like fleas, ticks, mosquitoes, and intestinal worms. These parasites aren’t just a nuisance, they can transmit serious diseases and affect your pet’s overall health.
Even pets that spend limited time outdoors can be exposed through walks, backyards, parks, or contact with other animals. Year-round or seasonal parasite prevention is one of the simplest and most effective ways to keep your pet protected during the warmer months.

Pets have a special talent for keeping life entertaining, whether it’s something silly, surprising, or completely unexpected!
Here’s one from our clinic team to get things started:

“My cat Paul absolutely loved sitting on the window sill at my old place, watching the geese on the front lawn. During the warmer months, I’d leave the window open (with a safety net, of course), and he would spend ages growling and hissing at them like he was personally in charge of security. A couple of months later, the geese stopped coming around altogether. I eventually moved out and almost forgot about it… until my old landlord texted me: the geese were back“

Now it’s your turn! We’d love to hear the funny, weird, or heartwarming things your pets do. Send us your stories - we might feature them in a future post!
