Sea Horse Farm

Sea Horse Farm Sea Horse Farm is located in the coastal community of Upper Kingsburg. An outdoor sand riding ring is used for exercising the horses.

It is home to three beloved horses, cared for by local veterinarian - Alison MacKay-Lyons. Green pastures extend from the old barnyard (where animals have been housed since the 1750’s) to Hirtle’s Beach. The horses stay close to home during winter months and enjoy grass for as much of the year as possible through rotational grazing. In the past Alison has offered private riding lessons, but is currently focused on individualized equine care, dressage training and Veterinary Medicine.

Mid-summer “staycation” for the Sea Horses. We cut the fields over the last couple of weeks. Since then, we’ve had some good grass growth. Soon we’ll be moving the herd back to the big pastures, but in the meantime we are loving having them in the barnyard and Loafing Barn paddock.

The weather cooperated just enough to finally fix our riding ring fence today! It was nice to have my neighbour Jackson’s help. Niko and Viper enjoyed meeting him. With any luck, the fence will stand up to the next round of hurricanes moving up the Atlantic coast.

Our yearling filly is blossoming this season. Viva is sweet and curious with a captivating presence like her dam. It’s such a treat to watch her move, and grow into her long legs. Her morning knicker just melts our hearts. Viva is still for sale to an exceptional dressage home.
