It's Heartworm Season!

As we approach June, heartworm season has arrived. Heartworm is a parasite transmitted by mosquitoes that can pose a serious risk to your dog's health. Wild canids such as coyotes and foxes are now the most common carriers of this disease in our area.

Testing for heartworm is recommended every 2 years before starting prevention. Our lab has a combination blood test that screens for heartworm and tick-borne illnesses and is currently available at a discounted price until July 31st.

We recommend that heartworm prevention be given for six months, from June 1st through November, to protect your dog from heartworm. Our hospital carries a variety of prevention options. If you have any questions about which option to choose, one of our staff members can assist you with a recommendation based on your lifestyle and your dog's medical history.

Southwest Veterinary Hospital is moving! 🚚📦

Please note that this past weekend was the final weekend for Southwest Veterinary Hospital operating out of the Blue Cross Animal hospital building at 95 Wharncliffe Rd S.

This week the Southwest team is working hard to get everything moved over and set up so that this Friday September 26th, they will be ready to continue providing urgent veterinary care to pets in London and the surrounding areas from their new location at 1398 Wellington Rd South, Unit 50. The operating hours of being open 24 hours from Friday at 6pm to Monday at 6am remain the same. Please note that access to the new location is off of Wilton Grove Rd.
