Heartworm season is here, but it's not too late to protect your dog!

If your dog is still due for their biannual heartworm test, now is a great time to book. Heartworm testing is available at a promotional price only until the end of July.

It's Heartworm Season!

As we approach June, heartworm season has arrived. Heartworm is a parasite transmitted by mosquitoes that can pose a serious risk to your dog's health. Wild canids such as coyotes and foxes are now the most common carriers of this disease in our area.

Testing for heartworm is recommended every 2 years before starting prevention. Our lab has a combination blood test that screens for heartworm and tick-borne illnesses and is currently available at a discounted price until July 31st.

We recommend that heartworm prevention be given for six months, from June 1st through November, to protect your dog from heartworm. Our hospital carries a variety of prevention options. If you have any questions about which option to choose, one of our staff members can assist you with a recommendation based on your lifestyle and your dog's medical history.
