Dogs were designed to:

Have you:

• Practiced the skill in different environments?
• Built the behaviour gradually?
• Rewarded success consistently?
• Made your cues clear and predictable?

Dogs don’t generalize well.

A sit in your kitchen isn’t automatically a sit at the park, on a trail, or around squirrels.

Before assuming your dog is ignoring you, ask:

“Have I taught this clearly enough for them to succeed?”
