We are successfully producing all 4 species from cb parents 💚

The Houagape chameleon gecko (Eurydactylodes vieillardi), sometimes known as Vieillard's chameleon gecko, or Bavay’s gecko is an arboreal gecko endemic and widespread throughout central and southern Grande Terre, the largest and principal island of New Caledonia. They feed on insects, fruit, and flower nectar in the wild.

Under human care, these geckos do well with gut loaded feeder crickets and roaches, and a gecko diet mix. The species is listed as near threatened. If you are interested in keeping these geckos, support responsible herpetoculture by seeking out geckos bred, hatched, and reared under human care.

Who really speaks for animals?

Extremist animal rights campaigners operate from a worrying ideology: that humans should not keep, breed, or utilise animals for any reason. For them, the aim is not welfare, but abolition. No zoos, no guide dogs, no captive breeding and no pets. In their eyes, even the most devoted and ethical animal keeping is wrong.

Yet these campaigners often have little or no real-world experience with the animals they seek to ‘protect’. Their knowledge is shaped by rhetoric, slogans and theory. They’re experts in protests, media manipulation and emotionally disingenuous campaigning – not animal care, veterinary expertise, ethology, or conservation.

Compare their inexperience and ignorance to the knowledge and experience of animal-keeping specialists, and the source of the most useful expertise should be obvious.

Yet, in legislative hearings, media reports and public debates, it is often the activists, not the specialists, who get the final say. The imbalance is not just frustrating. It’s dangerous.

When policy is driven by emotion rather than evidence, animals end up losing.

NEW NR75 UPDATE — Oct 1st 2025

We recieved some new info today from a council member stating the 2025-2026 UBCM Executive Board has been released and that based off history, proceedings of all resolutions being handled by the Executive UBCM Board, sometimes their process can take a month or even longer. While disappointing that there is no actual timeline anyone can provide us, it means… ‼️ WE STILL HAVE TIME TO EMAIL, AND THERE ARE NEW CONTACTS TO INCLUDE ‼️

The Sept 30th deadline ONLY applied to the period where the B.C. Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship was taking public input, largely related to the proposed bans on servals and other exotic cats, though Animal Rights groups have been applying pressure to them to also include reptiles, amphibians, and more to pressure them into considering a “Positive List” system instead.

📬 KEEP EMAILING the following UBCM executives *NEW MEMBERS INCLUDED* and urge them to VOTE NO to NR75

Mundy wants you to know two very important things…

1. He is adoptable! 🦎💛 Email us at [email protected]

2. He wants you to read this post about how with a few very simple steps, YOU can help pet keepers across BC and beyond OPPOSE restrictions on educational mobile animal events, and tell the government NO to the thought of implementing a “positive list” in BC.

It’s time to FIGHT BACK against government overreach and animal rights campaigners!
