🚨 Speargrass Season is Here 🚨
This little grass can cause BIG problems for pets. Speargrass seeds can work their way into ears, paws, skin, eyes, and noses — causing pain, infection, and sometimes requiring sedation to remove.
In this video, Dr. Treen removes speargrass from a dog’s ear after it became lodged deep inside the canal. 👂🐾
Please check your pets carefully after walks, especially around:
• Ears
• Between toes
• Armpits and groin
• Eyes and nose
• Long fur and feathering
Signs to watch for:
• Head shaking
• Sudden sneezing
• Excessive licking
• Ear pain or redness
• Swelling or limping
If you think your pet may have speargrass stuck somewhere, contact your veterinarian sooner rather than later — these seeds rarely move out on their own and can migrate deeper into the body.
