Well he has gone from a courtesy post to our latest foster.
I had been asked to take this ADORABLE little face but had told the original owners I still am not taking dogs in. Then I was told they had been able to rehome him...... 2 short weeks later I see him back up on the rehoming pages.
Given this guy had been having some dog aggression issues I knew being passed from home to home was only going to make those issues worse. So I contacted the new owner and asked if we could take him in, give him an evaluation and find him the perfect fit.
So without further ado I would like to introduce to you Keno, no bohdi, nah - I like BENNY 😉
He had been renamed and was not responding, plus I didnt think either fit.
Benny has had a couple altercations with other dogs. After bringing him into our pack I can see how his play and excitement can quickly switch to aggression and he does not seem to understand appropriate communication from other dogs.
That being said, with an experienced owner who can understand and read signals and body language from both Benny and the other dogs he interacts with these traits can be easily managed and with time, patients and training I think he would make a wonderful addition to any family. Since being with us and given minimal corrections from me and my main trainer (my dog milo) he is already understanding how these dogs operate and has fallen in line.
He is an absolute SNUGGLE BUG who will be happy to chill on the couch curled up with you. He is also surprisingly calm, staying right next to me while on hikes with the pack.
We are also trying to work on kennel training. Fortunately but also unfortunately a life constantly with people and never alone has left him with some separation anxiety. As this is not reality for most families we are doing our best to get him used to a kennel and being left home alone during a work day.
In conclusion the best fit for Benny:
A home as an only pet
OR
A home with a confident k9 companion and experienced human.
Benny's mama was a dogo argentino and dad is unknown.
His birth month is October, so about 5-6 months
If you think this little cutie will fit you and your lifestyle please reach out with any questions!!
One last thing, because he has been bounced around and also he is still intact any considered candidates will be thoroughly evaluated and questioned. So if you are not open to an invasive adoption process this may not be the rescue for you.
