Meet Maggie!

This sweet girl is all about the quiet life.. think cozy couch snuggles and late nights spent cuddled up watching tv. Maggie would love a calm, low-key home where she can feel safe and relaxed. She’s previously lived happily with a single adult and even did well with a small dog, but a busy home with lots of activity just isn’t her vibe.

After a couple big changes, Maggie is really hoping her next home is her furever one where she can settle in and enjoy her golden years! She could also use a little help getting back to a healthy weight, so her future family should be ready to support her with a good diet and regular care.

If you’ve got a quiet home and a spot on the couch, Maggie might just be your perfect match. If you're interested in finding out more about her, check out her profile on our website, or email is at [email protected]

Yesterday you met Kali, today meet our longest-term resident, Finn!

Finn has been in our care for a whopping total of 204 days! Luckily, he has been in foster care with one of our staff members, but his dream is to find a permanent family of his own.

Finn is a sweet, gentle boy who just needs a little time and patience to feel safe. New spaces can make him shy and anxious at first, but once he settles in, his true personality shines. He is incredibly affectionate and becomes a total cuddle bug who wants nothing more than to be curled up beside you on the couch or in bed. He will greet you with purrs, and head nudges (or even his signature happy drooling when he feels comfortable).

Finn thrives in calm, quiet environments and is looking for a patient home where he can come out of his shell at his own pace. Despite how loving and goofy he is, Finn just has not caught someone’s eye yet. He has so much affection to give and is just waiting for the right person to see him for who he is.

If you're interested in finding out more about him, check out his profile on our website, or email is at [email protected]

Say hi to Kali, the sweetest little lady who has been waiting at our shelter for her furever home for 118 days!

Kali has been waiting patiently, quietly watching other cats come and go, and somehow, she keeps getting overlooked. It is hard to understand why, because anyone who spends even a few minutes with her quickly sees just how special she is.

This petite senior is incredibly outgoing and affectionate. She loves everyone she meets and will happily flop down at your feet, asking for pets and soaking up every bit of attention you can give. Kali is the kind of cat who just wants to be close to her person. She will even let herself be held like a baby, completely relaxed and content in your arms - or maybe hop up onto your shoulders to be even closer to you.

She still has a little playful spark of a younger cat, but what she truly excels at is being a loving companion. If you are looking for a cat who will cuddle with you, follow you around, and make your home feel warmer just by being in it, Kali is just that.

She would likely do well with cat-savvy kids who understand her gentle nature. She may need time and careful introductions with other animals, as she can be selective about her feline friends, but she may adjust well to living with a similarly tempered 4-legged friend.

Kali does have some medical needs that require commitment. She has IBD and will need to stay on a special diet, along with occasional or ongoing low-cost medication. Regular veterinary checkups will help keep her comfortable and healthy.

What Kali needs most is someone willing to look past her age and her medical needs and see the incredibly loving and silly cat that she is. She has so much affection to give, and while she has been happily giving it to us at the shelter, a family of her own would be a dream come true. If you're interested in finding out more about her, check out her profile on our website, or email is at [email protected]

Did you know lameness is a top welfare concern for beef cattle in Canada? Lameness is a painful condition affecting the leg or hoof. It also makes it harder for cattle to escape predators, and access food and water.

Despite this, the draft Beef Code does not include specific requirements to prevent lameness or keep lameness levels below a set target.

This is your chance to speak up for a stronger Code that includes clear expectations and sets
targets to ensure lameness is addressed on beef cattle farms.

Clear, respectful and original comments can shape a better future for beef cattle in Canada. You
have until June 12th to submit your comments to NFACC.

Take action for beef cattle today: https://spca.bc.ca/news/have-your-say-as-canada-updates-beef-cattle-standards/

Wee Man had his TV debut this morning on the CFJC Today Kamloops Midday show!

He joined us to talk about what to do if you find dogs in hot cars, other summer safety tips for pets, and to promote our upcoming FurBall gala!

Though, Wee Man thought he was just there to meet a bunch of new friends and to solicit pets from everyone he ran into. Either way - the trip was a success in his eyes!
