I have been involved with animals for over 30 years and previously bred German Shepherds, also very focused on ethics and genetics, and worked with breeders internationally. In a past

career I also worked as a dog trainer and did a lot of rescue work as well. Because of life changes and family commitments I had to step away from that 15+ years ago. Over the years I was introduced to rats and their intelligence and social/empathetic nature and value as therapy animals quickly won me over (once I got past the tails!!). I work in healthcare as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse and I am a strong advocate for mental health and do feel that animals who show empathy and high emotional intelligence are valuable to help people of all ages through struggles. With the rise of everyday expenses for people, I feel that rats are a great family pet with dog-like traits at a much lower cost and lower maintenance. Inspirit Rattery was formed in 2022. My focus is on small-scale breeding as a hobby, breeding for health and temperament. I am conscious of not over-breeding and carefully screening new homes to help ensure lifetime commitment to the animal. Working with other ethical and well-established breeders - tracking genetics to work on goals, and being committed to learning. I am dedicated to promoting rats as wonderful pocket pet companions and helping to reduce the stigma surrounding them. Our rats are tested negative for all zoonotic diseases to ensure no health risk to the public. This is particularly important for those with children or who are immunocompromised. We also occasionally offer our retired adults to approved pet homes at no cost. Our rats receive extensive time outside the cage each day and handling by our kids/family right from day one. This early handling and exposure to new sounds/situations is valuable in contributing to optimal development and increased confidence when they go to their new homes. Our rattery offers a 12 month health and temperament warranty with replacement or refund, and lifetime breeder support. We are located in Kamloops, however transport may be available via ground or air, and we have references from families throughout BC, Yukon and Saskatchewan! Updated pictures of EWR Pearl x EWR Darwin litter! I learned the hard way to make sure my Live Photo option is always on when taking pictures of busy babies! lol after taking their pictures on the weekend I went to edit the pictures and realized I had it off (so mostly blurry pics of babies on the go 😆). So I took more pictures 🤦🏻‍♀️😁 this litter is a lot of fun, quite naturally outgoing temperaments and pleased with their conformation (structure). I will be keeping back some pearls to work towards a dwarf pearl line🙏. Others will be available to the waitlist. 🥰🐭🐾

Reduced price and discount for current clients. Priority is getting them into good homes. ✅

✅Important with warmer weather ☀️it can be tempting to take your rats outside… so many risks with this though unless if they are on a harness/leash and remain on your shoulder and/or in a pouch (and trusted!) there is also the disease risk to rats from wild rodents/animals on the grass, stumps, etc.

We’ve seen multiple posts and pictures of people bringing their small rodents outside (not secured in a carrier) recently. We would like to remind every one of the risks and reasons not too. In addition to the things listed on the graphic also consider the stress it can cause. We want to give others the information to make educated choices on the topic of pet care.
