SEEKING A FOSTER FAMILY! 🚨🔔
Did you know that fostering is free?
Blue is coming into town soon (either this Sunday or Monday) and would love to meet up with potential fosters. Meeting him doesn't mean you need to foster him right away or at all, it just gives you the opportunity to meet him to see if it could be a potential match.
Here is some more info about Blue:
Blue, Coonhound
6 years old
110 pounds (estimate)
Friendly, good-natured, affectionate, happy, and big! Those words describe the coonhound Blue. We are still getting to know Blue but we know already that, if you are looking for a loyal and devoted canine companion, Blue is your guy! That is, if you like big dogs because Mr. Blue is big!
We noticed that Blue tends to bark and bay when left alone. When he has company, he’s quiet. Blue will do best in a home where he is not left alone too often or too long. Hounds love to be with their people and Blue is true to his roots.
We think Blue would probably do well in a home with other dogs. He previously lived with another big male dog and we recently introduced him to Willow, a border collie, and he was comfortable meeting and walking with her. Slow, thoughtful introductions will be important because although Blue is a friendly dog he has little experience with other dogs and will be overwhelmed and nervous if he is not given the time and space to meet other dogs on his own terms.
Blue had a wellness check in November 2024 and was pronounced healthy. He is up-to-date on his vaccinations.
Blue is under socialized. He has very little experience of the world and he can be afraid of things he hasn’t seen or done before. Blue is a strong boy and pulls on leash which can be difficult for one person to manage. When we walked him with two people each holding a longer line attached to the back of a harness, it worked amazingly well.
As a hound, Blue loves to use his nose of course. He would thrive in a home that gives him opportunities to explore the scents of the world. Blue previously lived harmoniously with four cats. He gets in and out of the car easily and seems to enjoy car rides and watching the world go by out the window.
Blue has had little to no training in his life and lacks some of the basic skills dogs need to live safely in our world. For example, Blue does not have a good recall. His previous home reported that he would jump up on people but we have only experienced that behaviour once during the time we have known him. He has not yet mastered loose leash walking. Through positive reinforcement training, we know Blue can develop the manners and skills he needs.
To know Blue is to love him. This gentle giant has so much love to offer and joy to express. If you would like to know more about our boy Blue, contact:
