🐾 FOUND KITTEN: Tiny, Curious, and Looking for Home 🐾

This young feline was brought into our care by the RCMP after being found near 15th Ave and 62 Street.

Only a few months old, this kitten is now safe while we try to locate its family. If you're missing a young cat, or know someone who is, we'd love to hear from you.

🐾 FOUND CAT: Garfield, Is That You? 🐾

This orange feline was found in the Poplar Trailer Park area on July 22 and is currently enjoying a temporary stay with us while we search for his family.

Unlike Garfield, he hasn't demanded lasagna yet, but he is a very friendly, neutered male Orange Domestic Short Hair who seems quite comfortable making new friends wherever he goes.

We are aware of the eye infection visible in the photo and can confirm he was treated by the vet and has already begun a course of antibiotics. He is scheduled for a follow-up appointment next week.

• Waste Collection (Organics) – No changes, regular collection remains in effect

🎥 Body-Worn Cameras Coming to Edson Enforcement Services

Beginning this week, Town of Edson Enforcement Officers will be equipped with body-worn cameras while carrying out their duties in the community.

Body-worn cameras provide an objective record of interactions, support public and officer safety, improve evidence collection and help ensure interactions are documented accurately and fairly.

Body-worn cameras are not always recording and will be activated during enforcement-related interactions where recording is appropriate and necessary.

Requests for access to recordings will be handled in accordance with applicable legislation and Town policies.

The Town of Edson remains committed to delivering professional, respectful and accountable enforcement services.

🚓 Traffic Enforcement Update 🚓
Last week, Town of Edson Peace Officers conducted patrols along 2 Avenue and 4 Avenue.

During patrols:

-A vehicle was stopped travelling 87 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone on 2 Avenue near Canadian Tire
-A vehicle was stopped travelling 84 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone on 4 Avenue

🚗 Reminder to motorists: Speed limits are in place for everyone’s safety. Please slow down, especially on entry corridors and busy areas, and help keep Edson safe for all road users.

Long weekend reminder. See below for Victoria Day facility closures and service updates.

📅 Victoria Day Long Weekend – Facility Hours

Please note the following facility closures and service adjustments for Monday, May 18:
Town facilities, including the Civic Centre, Protective Services Building (emergency response not impacted), Griffiths Park Centre, Public Works and the Lagoon/WWTP, will be closed.
After‑hours call‑outs related to the Lagoon/WWTP are subject to applicable fees.

The Edson Landfill will also be closed (regular Monday closure).

♻️ Organics collection will proceed as usual.

🏊 The Edson & District Leisure Centre will be open 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Programming may vary, please follow their page for updates.

Over 60 Cats Seized from Edson Home

On April 29, 2026, Town of Edson Enforcement Services Peace Officers executed a search warrant under the Animal Protection Act at a residential property in the Glenwood neighbourhood.

As a result of the search, 63 cats were seized. This brings the total number of cats removed from this property to 121 over the past year, with 58 previously surrendered.

Enforcement Services would like to thank all agencies that assisted in executing the warrant, including our Peace Officers, Animal Rescue Agencies in Edson and Hinton, Edson RCMP, and the Edson Fire Department.

Every cat that was found has been taken into care.

The investigation continues and charges are anticipated
